Fstoppers Original: Eric Bradshaw Revisited

Back when Lee and I started the idea of Fstoppers, we contacted a few friend photographers of ours to see if they would allow us to film some of their shoots for our Behind the Scenes website idea. We first featured Eric Bradshaw‘s beach shoot at launch but I figured I’d post the second video as well. This video was the 2nd BTS video I ever edited and I hope you can draw some inspiration for your own behind the scenes videos. Watching Eric work is also pretty inspiring too! Enjoy this video from the FS vaults.

Chase Jarvis Says You Have Enough Gear

You don’t have to have a ton of gear to create compelling images and video!!!! If you don’t believe me then listen to Chase.

Zack Arias sits down with CJ

I was just chatting with some people from Atlanta about which photographer to feature for the next FS video and Zack Arias seemed to be the hands down favorite. Well Chase Jarvis beat us to it so I’ll pass this along to you. I have no idea how you can have a 2 hour video on youtube but if you have time to watch this check it out; they cover quite a bit of interesting topics that are sure to help you with your own photography and business. Enjoy

The Wednesday Rundown 6.16.10

Welcome to the Wednesday Rundown. This weekend my mind has been on lighting. This is something I need to work on personally. How do I use what I have to it’s full potential? I have found a couple videos that focus on the lighting more this week. Hopefully we all can learn a bit. Thanks again for the comments. contactfstoppers@gmail.com

Who Should Fstoppers Feature Next?

That is the question we are currently asking our readers on our forum. We have a few really cool videos in the works but we still have to plan ahead. If you happen to admire a particular photographer please stop by our forum and write us a note, if we like what the photographer is doing we will travel to them and create a video for them free of charge. RC Chopper Shoots Gulf Oil Disaster

The only thing this BTS video is missing is the actually images! But it is still really cool so I will give it a pass. They wrote: “Hand launching a custom built Canon 5D Mark II aerial drone from a boat in the middle of the Gulf of Mexico to capture oil spill imagery: Although we are able to hand launch our drones in very confined space, we’ve never done this from the back of a very unstable pitching and rolling boat…in rain and drizzle. Over $10,000 in equipment can be lost in an instant! Between boat movement and gulf winds this was an extreme challenge! What a great show of talent”

Fstoppers Quicky: David Oppenheimer Shoots Jay Z At Bonnaroo

For the last 4 days I have been at Bonnaroo listening to music and living like a caveman. The biggest show of the event was Jay Z Saturday night and to get a decent view we camped out 4 hours before the show. The guy next to me happenend to be David Oppenheimer, a professional photographer, and we ended up chatting. He decided to camp out and shoot from the crowd with a monopod and a remote.

Contest Entry: Zak Shelhamer Shoots A Motorcycle

Zak Shelhamer has just submitted his contest entry; a behind the scenes video of him shooting his buddy on a motorcycle. The shoot isn’t complicated at all and that is why I love it. Zak uses a van, 2 lights, and a stick to create very compelling images. You can join the dialog about this video below in the comments or head over to his forum post here.

Heidi Klum takes you BTS on a German Vogue shoot

I have learned that there is often a lot to be gained by watching people being creative rather than simply being shown an interesting lighting setup or cool new technical gadget. This video will teach you nothing about lighting or photography in general but it gives you a good glimpse on how two of the industry’s top creative people (Heidi Klum and Alexi Lubomirski ) come together to produce something really interesting. Click here to see the final photos (editorial/german vogue/2009/Heidi) along with some other amazing photographs.

Joey L takes a ton of gear into the Siberut Jungle

Joey L is always an inspiration because not only is he really young but because he is really forward thinking with his creativity. Here is the behind the scenes video of his latest project The Mentawai. It’s pretty wild to see the logistics of a shoot like this and I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. Please give the creator of this video your feedback, we would all appreciate it.
