I see what I’d consider substandard photography everyday by both
newcomers and by photographers with years and years of experience. My
professionalism dictates that I never bad mouth anyone. What is the
point? I let my work speak for itself. I see no need to dish on the work
of others. It makes you look immature, snarky and unprofessional.

Agreed. There isn’t one photographer that doesn’t know this is a ongoing learning process and everyone starts somewhere. And I know a good portion of my student work (as well as some of my professional work) is every bit as ridiculous to me today. While this site is good for a chuckle, all photographers regardless of skill level benefit from constructive criticism.

You are totally missing the point here. These photos are so sub-standard they make me wonder why anyone would even buy them. Just like there are product reviews for every piece of merchandise out there I don’t see where this is a bad thing at all. I never buy anything without reading reviews. Are you saying that’s wrong too.

I don’t really think FStoppers is trying to make fun I think they are more trying to point out that just because you bought a DSLR doesn’t mean you are a pro. I’ve had my DSLR for around 5yrs now and no way would I charge people. I looked at some of those pictures on that site and am hoping the client did not pay for those.

FStoppers, a website about (supposedly) helping photographers, posting articles that makes fun of photographers and their work, is not worth their salt. This ‘We are better than you’ attitude from this website and the putting other folk down is outright low class.

Shame on you FStoppers, you should know better.
