I'm a commercial photographer and director of photography in the border town of McAllen, Texas. I like to experiment with light and try anything new when it comes to strobist photography. When I'm not working I enjoy spending time with my two daughters, and shooting concerts (Electronic Dance Music/ DJs). I am the owner/admin of EDM Photographers on Facebook. EDMphotographers.com is the largest collective of EDM Photographers on social media. I am always lurking somewhere on Facebook, so if you have any questions don't hesitate to contact me there.

Fstoppers Reviews: Photographing Food E-Book by: Taylor Mathis

One of the biggest niches in commercial photography today is food photography. We’ve all had the same experience, walk into a small local restaurant and ask to see their menu. The photos look atrocious and you wonder to yourself, “who took these photos?” You know you can probably do a better job, but how much better can you really do? “Photographing Food” an ebook series by Taylor Mathis helps you take ordinary food photos and makes them extraordinary. Newspaper Removes All Images to Show Support for Photographers

French newspaper, Libération, published their November 14th issue without a single photograph. The stark blanket of text is all that is left of the issue. Their reasoning for leaving out the photos? They wanted to show their support of photographers who help bring the paper to life. They decided to publish on the same day as Paris Photo’s opening day, to make a stand for photojournalists who risk everything and receive very little in return. [more]

Was Vogue’s Daft Punk Spread Ripped Off for This WSJ Magazine Cover?

When you look at the new cover to WSJ’s magazine you might suddenly be hit with a sense of Déjà vu. Certainly you’ve seen it before, but can’t exactly remember from where. Don’t worry you’re not alone, it’s because the new cover seems to be a spin to Vogue’s August 2013 editorial spread photographed by Craig McDean . The kicker? The WSJ cover and spread was shot by none other than our favorite plaid wearing, controversial photographer Terry Richardson. [more]

No matter how the movie does at the box-office this weekend, it’s nice to see the inner workings of a big-budget Hollywood film. Will you be watching “Carrie” this weekend? [more]
