The Unwritten Rules of Facebook for Creatives

Do you ever come across someone and think “what were they thinking, why would they even do that?” Well, I will bet money you’ve scrolled through your newsfeed or Facebook groups and said this at least once. There are three main sections you should probably pay close attention to while using Facebook.

TEDxYouth with Wyn Wiley: Find Your Brilliance and Run Like Hell

This summer, TEDxYouth went to Lincoln Nebraska to find youth speakers and they struck gold. Wyn Wiley was suggested to be a TEDxYouth speaker by two of his teachers and little did he know that it would be an experience not only for the audience but for himself. He created 9 minutes of pure selflessness that is guaranteed to ignite a spark within yourself.

Announcing Nikon’s First WiFi Enabled Camera: the D5300

In the wee hours of the night Nikon announced the new D5300, not even a year after its predecessor the D5200. How to Critique Someone’s Work

Hoffer Photography is comprised of Tony and Amy Hoffer, who are amazing wedding photographers located in Philadelphia. Yesterday Tony posted a blog and it wasn’t just any blog, it was the best kind: the sarcastic kind. The text caption was “ever since the dawn of the internet, the photography community has been a supportive network that’s willing to forgo their competitive nature and put their egos aside in order to give thoughtful and constructive critique,” and I was sold. The Fujifilm X-A1 with 16-50mm lens is back in stock at B&H as is the Wacom Intous Pro in Medium! 1940′s Pin-Ups with a Dash of Milk

London-based photographer Jaroslav Wieczorkiewicz is a someone who loves pushing the boundaries and stepping outside his comfort zone. He’s known for his high speed photography and pushing it to the extremes, most of the time involving milk! His newest set with milk combines his love for composites and high speed and it shines with some traditional 1940′s pin-ups.

The Terry Richardson You Don’t Know

After reading the comments on the Miley and Terry article I wrote the other day, it made me realize how many people are in the dark about Terry Richardson’s talent. I am a huge fan of Terry, mostly because he has an ‘I don’t give a damn’ attitude but he turns out some pretty glorious images when you aren’t paying attention.  Most people when they hear the name Terry Richardson they think creepy, old, incredibly lucky photographer who gets to see a lot of boobs. But in reality he is highly talented and brought in millions last year for doing much more than mediocre white wall shots. [more]

Why the New Pinterest and Bing Partnership Should Make You Use Pinterest

If you use Bing, you’ll notice that in the image search, they added a Pinterest bar on the righthand side. This new feature brings up pinboards with whatever key words you’re searching for. With the new feature it pulls directly from Pinterest and shows you in a minimized sidebar. Here are a couple tips to help make sure you are properly naming your pins and taking advantage of the new feature. [more]

Terry Richardson and Miley Cyrus, at it Again (NSFW)

Terry Richardson and Miley Cyrus are completely, as you’d say in middle school terms, MFEO. Or made for each other if you can’t remember that far back. They both have taken the spotlight and thrust it upon themselves by stepping out of the box and making people want to see whatever they’re going to do next. Apparently in their world it just means a whole lot of nudity which may or may not entail Miley thrusting herself into an Arizona Grapeade.

How to Sell Your Old Film Camera for 13 Thousand (Update: Now $92K)

Miley Cyrus is just becoming the talk of the town lately, but the one time she does something completely normal, everyone has to make a big deal out of it. Which is why she posted a plain old Nikon N80 35mm camera on eBay and it’s currently up to $13,300 $80,100 $92,000 with plenty of time left to go.

Properly Taking Advantage of the Psychology of Pricing

We can talk about pricing all day, every day, but when it comes down to it, it’s not just about how much you’re charging but how you’re displaying it. Most of the time we put a lot of thought into how aesthetically appealing our pricing pages look, but how they’re laid out can end up making or breaking an up-sale. [more]

The iPhone 5S and its Promise for Better Images

Well first off, I am not positive anyone actually retained what the specs on the new iPhone 5S are going to be. Mostly because I’m sure the only thing running through their minds was ‘I love goldddddd’ from Austin Powers Goldmember. But lets push aside the fact that you can rock a phone that will glisten in the sunlight like a shiny olympic medal and talk about some of the much needed upgrades on the new 5S.

Six Free Tips to Make Sure Your Relocation Isn’t a Career Ender

In the photography world, social media connects you with a multitude of people and not a month goes by where someone doesn’t mention they’re moving. The first comment they always make is ‘I don’t want to start my business all over again!’ But if you have developed a sturdy business in your current location there is no reason that continuing your business somewhere else shouldn’t be a possibility.
