If you ever end up on Reddit or Imgur where there is a good chance for a lot of views, but little chance for a link, then a watermark could be especially useful. Of course the issue then becomes if it’s a watermark that could easily be cropped / cloned out or not, and if you see watermarks as protection or marketing.

I usually get around ~100-200 views per picture on Flickr, and even then my concert photos ( even some portraits, funniest was a pretty high traffic mens blog who used a photo when describing mens haircuts haha ) get used on music blogs, sometimes with a link, sometimes not. Often have to use google image reverse search to find out. Hell, one of my portraits got posted by a big tumblr blog and got close to 5000 reblogs.

I’m a concert photographer and I always struggle on deciding on how big and where to put my watermarks on my photos. I KNOW for a fact that my photos get reblogged…

This makes an interesting case FOR using watermarks on photos – when they are likely to be reblogged and shared. Thankfully the editor put link backs, but that’s not always the case.
