again I living in wrong country UK never have big discounts !

              • Michael Ratcliff

Just bought the 50mm 1.4 and love it but it is dog-slow in focusing. So want the 1.2 glass!

              • http://www.facebook.com/hiroschneider Jaron Schneider

I can imagine how much of a bummer that is. We’re sort of spoiled on discounts in the states.

              • bluesy dude

                I guess < 10% is considered a BIG sale?

              • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=517426097 Jonathan Bergeron

                sorta ? lol

              • writersbloc

Always heard the 1.2 is terribly slow at focusing, so much so lifestyle shooters I know prefer the 1.4. Maybe I’ve been hearing wrong.

              • http://profile.yahoo.com/HO4S3XP6S3AUZV5PYRFRAOSNKM John

$400.00 savings is nice but on $2500.00 is still out of my reach…. =(

              • Spy Black

The faster the lens, the harder to autofocus due to shallow depth of field, which apparently freaks out AF systems. I wish manufacturers (all the different camera makes do this) would evolve their AF systems to take the optical properties of faster lenses into account

              • Spy Black

Canon and Nikon typically don’t cut too much on there products, although Nikon has certainly been more aggressive lately, although you won’t see their high-end glass on sale.

              • Spy Black

Unless you’re completely sold on Canon glass, you should check out the new Tamron 70-200 they recently introduced.

              • http://www.facebook.com/hiroschneider Jaron Schneider

Precisely. This makes any discount on pro glass rather big news.

              • http://www.craigashleyrussell.com/ Craig Ashley Russell

The AF on my Canon 70-200 USM II f/2.8 is lightning fast and accurate. Perhaps it’s a Tamron issue.

              • Ilker Sen

I was terribly disappointed with the slow focus of 50 1.4 as well, until I read that other people also had problems with fast lenses and 5DM3.  Might be the camera, just saying.

              • JosephRT

You heard right, the Canon 50 1.2 is definitely slower auto focusing than the 50 1.4

              • Lee Montes

but doesnt the British Pound crush the dollar in exchange?  im not sure of the exchange rate…

              • DafOwen

Yup – never see Pro glass in the sales in the UK.

Only V rarely in cashback if buying a body.

              • Nismode

I haven’t had any issues with focusing speed with my 50mm f/1.4. Then again it is less than a year old…

              • Spy Black

It has nothing to do with the make. Try your camera with a 50mm or longer f/1.4 optic, regardless of manufacturer.
