[NSFW] This Is Nuts: Meet the Penis Fashion Photographer

The next time you're having a rough day thinking about how all your photography is looking the same, the competition is stiff, and bookings are down, remember that there are photographers out there taking pictures exclusively of the male anatomy and translating those into $10,000 limited edition prints.

You're probably thinking, "that's ridiculous, and why would that make me feel better?" Well, Soraya Doolbaz and her phalllic fashion photography are proof, not only of the "American dream," but that there's money to be made anywhere and everywhere. Her story begins in her own words:

I was born in Iran and now I live in New York. Back when I was single, I would get a ton of dick pics and my friends would get them, and we would show them to each other and some dick pics were better than the other ones, and I thought, 'what if I took them with a professional camera?' And then I was walking through a Walmart and I saw a couple of dolls. I just kind of put two and two together and thought I could create a personality out of penises.

And thus after some experimentation and word of mouth began the Dicture Gallery. It wasn't long before she was featured at Art Basel, a major contemporary art fair held every year in Miami Beach. She eventually received a fan base large enough to support a product line that includes adult novelty items. All I can say is good for her! She should be an inspiration to us all, and a reminder of a prime concept in marketing which is to specialize, specialize, specialize. Don't just be a wedding photographer. Be a wedding photographer that specializes in same-sex weddings, or shooting film, or only delivering black and white photos. Don't just be a commercial photographer. Be a commercial photographer that only shoots marijuana. Specifying your niche seems counterintuitive at first. After all, why would you not want to collect as much money from different sources as possible? When you focus on things, they become your passion. You don't just do them, you do them as well as can be done. You become an expert. You become the name in your field. While there aren't many dedicated cat photographers, if you're in the scene, you know the one guy to go to. He gets a lot of business.

Well, she's not dicking around I guess...

Or... she... is? Dicking around? I dunno.

or a new meaning of being Honey-Dicked?

That was she said ^^ ..sorry could not resist ! :D

Like I said on an article last year featuring her work (or someone who did the same concept; can't remember), I'm glad it's tongue-in-cheek. Or dick-in-leather-coat. Whatever idiom you prefer.

Hard job. But I imagine the competition isn't very stiff for that niche.

hard job indeed :)
for the model :p

I see what you did there sir :)

She should get ready for..."stiff" competition now that her work is out.

This was an SNL skit last season I believe. Included tiny props like small cans of Coke for "size reference"

So much innuendo... Thanks for the laugh Sean.

Her last name is "Doolbaz" and that means "Dick Player" in persian!!! She is so in love with penises I guess.

ur right.and she is persian.she says in her video she was born in iran lol

Not impressed with the title. This site seems to love the 'NSFW' tag. Clickbait I guess.

I certainly want people to click on my articles, so I unashamedly write them with a bit of panache for time to time, but it's certainly not click-bait in the technical sense since I'm not being ambiguous in the content. If it read "you won't believe what this photographer does to penises," then there's no question that it's cheap bait. Also, it says "NSFW" because it's definitely not safe for (most) work, and in the 25 articles I've written for Fstoppers thus far, this is only my second tagged as such. Overall, I don't see that many NSFW articles posted here, all things considered.

so who wants a new DP (Dicpic)???

I really don't know what to say...

please explain, what the fuck am i doing wrong, is she really selling her prints for 10 grand, i think my work is pretty darn good and i cant sell shit. Who the fuck does she know,

Right place, right time. Also, girl. Also, New York City.

so i guess that pretty much the right thing to say about everything, she is just lucky and her idea took off. I thought i was in a good nitch of photography but it seems i am the dope driving around wasting money and gas and wear and tear on my car for fun (well to me anyway) and not getting a red cent!! .... But what i can say is I am having a kickass time doing so, beats all the other shit i used to do for money, now at least i am enjoying what i am shooting and stocking a good amount of footage that might or might not turn into something and if it doesnt ,I am still OK with that since its all on my terms , HAHAHAHA the people i have been meeting and hanging around with have been the coolest too, not like the dicks shes with HAHAHHAAHAH

When I figure out what "art" is, I'll let you know. Don't hold your breath waiting for an answer, though!

Is this happening only in USA?! I'm really speechless... Like wow man what's next poop ?!

Shit pics are the new dick pics.

hope it wasn't too cold in the room.

Not to be a dick, but don't you mean "Specialize"?

I'm sure when she pitched the idea of taking professional dick pics, her friends asked "How hard would that be?"

By "specify" I meant "specify target market," but I think you're right. "Specialize" certainly is probably a word that works better. Thanks for the feedback!

Of all the things you can make money doing, this is among the weirdest.

Not as weird as giving service to the adult baby fetish. That shit creeps me out.

So has anyone actually gone and looked at these photos? I went to the Limited Editions section of her website and none of the LE prints I saw had anything remotely to do with the topic of this article. The galleries she has featuring the subject matter of this article are selling novelty-type items. Which is not surprising, considering that this is what her photography is...novelty. Not much in the way of art but I will grant that there are a lot of people out there that have money to waste on whatever they like so it's not surprising that there are photographers out there exploiting this and good for them, I guess. But this hardly newsworthy as evidenced by most of the pun and innuendo comments on this article. Good for a quick laugh I suppose, but inspiring? Surely you jest?

The *concept* is inspiring. And by that, I mean, throwing convention out the window, getting a crazy idea, and running with it. I'm certainly not inspired in the sense that I want to start taking professional dick photography seriously.

Why not take it seriously? Do you take nude female photography seriously? Do you take it seriously when men dress women up in costumes on a set or have them pose in fantasy type situations? How is this different other than it is taking the penis less seriously than men usually take their dicks.

I want to say that I've seen this done before. Might just be the same girl making a second round on the internet. Needless to say I don't think it's anything special.

ппц полный!

What's ridiculous is that men take nudes of women, dress up women in risque poses, boudoir costumes, flaunt women's sensuality and sexuality all the time and get taken seriously by their male counterparts. Then, this lady decides to dress up penises in costume for a living, and she gets ridiculed. Good for her for taking her idea to a conclusion and making a living from it. She deserves all the success and press she can garner.

Am I the only one who thinks that this topic dumb and grosse. All men have penises, but that doesn't mean we should photograph them. Both men and women have anuses too, so is this another opening for photographers?? (Yeah, I know - bad pun)

Or we should just flog this topic with every bad pun that we can possibly think of, with total disregard to aesthetics or common decency. Just because there are people without boundaries, doesn't mean that we should lower our standards to the lowest common denominator.

I expect that I am going to be flamed for my posts, primarily because anyone bothering to post here is likely to be in favour of the topic, but that's ok. Freedom of speech means that I have as much right of expression as everyone else, so take or leave it. :)

ps: I love fstoppers site and find the articles and photos to be inspiring - perhaps this one being the exception to the rule.

And the standard should be? Serious nudes of women dressed up in S&M with proper lighting to make things tasteful? Guys just don't like it when their penises are the center of something less than heroic - that's the reason for the ridicule. Has anyone said that Playgirl is offensive here or that it will degrade societal standards? Nope. It's just that the almighty cock is dressed like the Gestapo that folks (men) are freaking out.

must be very difficult job for female photographer... what you do for living?.. I am a dick photographer! oh, I see... )
