[BTSV] Behind The Scenes At The Winter X-Games

xgames [BTSV] Behind The Scenes At The Winter X GamesIn this behind the scenes video from Vimeo (say that five times fast!), we get a look at the wide variety of gear that is used to capture the action at Winter X. From freelance photographers and videographers to full-scale production efforts, this video has a little bit of everything.

One thing in particular that caught my eye was the 360-degree iPhone camera. After some research, I found out that they’re called Dot. As if those little phones we’re groundbreaking enough.

While this is only a quick sampling of the gear used at an event of this size, it’s eye-opening to me to see how many different technologies get used to capture events like this, compared to say, twenty years ago. 3d, 360, DSLR, HD DSLRs, RED cameras, and the list goes on (I’m sure I’m forgetting a few).

Great BTS, thanks!  Especially love the $7 DIY PVC camera/microphone rig. Maybe that should be a future  fStoppers tutorial video.

I didn’t find it particularly helpful or revealing at all. The closest thing we got to tech talk was a frenetic explanation of the 3D camera, which came off as a quick explanation that was supposed to confuse more than help. I really would have loved something more like what Dave Lehl gave us.
