now seriously. i desperately want a 35mm lens. but. but. then i think i might get multiple advantages since i’d be using it a lot on video too..

By: Jeff Lowmanhttp://fstoppers.com/canon-announces-the-new-24-70mm-f4-is-and-35mm-f2-is-lenses/comment-page-1#comment-54624 Jeff Lowman Tue, 06 Nov 2012 16:08:00 +0000 http://fstoppers.com/?p=58565#comment-54624 Both of these are targeted for film makers.  Canon videographers have been screaming for these light lenses to have an IS version.  The f/4 is great because while walking or even having the camera on a Merlin or stedicam, it is impossible to change focus.  So keeping the depth of field deeper helps out tremendously.  I can see photographers being frustrated with this because it falls short of what they need but videographers should be very happy with these new lenses.

If the image quality is excellent, this will be an incredible tool. I’ve always wanted a 35mm focal length but couldn’t afford to own the 35mm 1.4L (Thank God for rentals) and the cheaply made alternative was not an option. These lenses are an awesome addition to an already sweet lineup and finally, the non L lenses are getting the better builds they deserve.
