A Commercial for a Car Commercial: The CLA Project

Casey Neistat was approached with an unusual proposition from Mercedes Benz. They wanted Casey, a successful Youtube filmmaker to make a car commercial for the new Mercedes Benz CLA, even though Casey has never filmed a car commercial or anything close to resembling one. The following set of the three videos is his rather interesting journey so far. With Casey’s charismatic personality it’s curious to see how the commercial will turn out. I will update this when the final commercial is released. Enjoy. [more]

Behind the Scenes Look Into My Commercial / Fashion Photo Session

A single photograph from a photography session barely shows you all the planning and execution that goes into a photoshoot. Dozens of ideas, shooting styles and concepts often come into play in the pre production, not to mention the hours that can be spent in post production as well. As a result, I decided to give you all a breakdown of my recent photoshoot with good friend and model, Harmony Romano.

Blair Bunting’s Aaron Hernandez Photos Taken Mere Hours After Athlete Allegedly Shot a Man

So if you’re a sports fan, you probably know the huge scandal unfolding right now surrounding Aaron Hernandez, the former NFL star who was recently released from the New England Patriots. He is now under arrest for a murder that happened on June 14, but last February he allegedly shot a man in the face, a man who survived and is now suing him for it. Thing is, the EXIF data on images recently released by Fstoppers contributor Blair Bunting show the photo shoot took place only a few hours after that alleged shooting. Freaky. [more]

Joey L. Creates Indoor Blizzard For Unique Portraits

Read on to learn how it was done and what equipment was used. [more]

Cavalli Press Release Shows Bizarre Unrealistically Skinny Photoshopped Image of Beyoncé

Designer Roberto Cavalli recently designed a gown for Beyoncé, exclusively for the Mrs. Carter Show World Tour. In an official press release that was sent out by the Italian fashion house on Tuesday, one very controversial photo of Beyoncé wearing that dress was attached. In what looks like a heavily Photoshopped image, the company behind this ad made her look very thin, unrealistically thinned and stretched her legs. As art it’s interesting, but it wasn’t received well by many viewers. [more]

Fstoppers Original: Success in Photography

This year Patrick and I were invited to Gulf Photo Plus in Dubai to film a behind the scenes look of what it’s really like to go to this exotic workshop. The experience itself was one of the highlights of my life but the most memorable moment for me was the few minutes I had with each of the instructors. I decided to interview them about the pitfalls of their careers and what it takes to become successful as a photographer.  [more]

Fstoppers Interviews Retoucher & Photographer Ashlee Gray

Finding a great retoucher (if you use one) can be a pretty daunting task. Most photographers end up doing their own – picking up techniques and tricks along the way. Ashlee Gray is a beauty and fashion photographer and [primarily a] retoucher based in New York whose clients include Tresemme, Starbucks, Rebecca Minkoff and Gatorade. As a photographer, her images are beautiful, feminine and even delicate. It’s that same underlying aesthetic that she applies to her retouching- yet still managing to retain the unique style of the individual photographers she works with. [more]

Fstoppers Interviews Active Lifestyle Photographer Coty Tarr

“Coty Tarr is an active lifestyle photographer based in New York City,” so says the not quite so lengthy bio on his website. On initial thought, one might think the concise personal description is a little off-putting, but to anyone that has ever met Coty, it is nothing if not an apt discriptor. In a world where many photographers feel the need for shameless overpromotion (not that there’s anything wrong with that), Coty takes a more subtle approach, working tirelessly and letting the caliber of his images and his work ethic speak for him. Samsung’s New Campaign With Chase Jarvis Is A Colorful Mess

I woke up this morning to find an email from Chase Jarvis’s camp showcasing his new photo campaign for the Samsung 9 Series Monitors. Anti-Abuse Lenticular Print Show Kids And Adults Different Ads

A Spanish organization called “Aid to Children and Adolescents at Risk” (ANAR) created a new ad campaign to bring awareness to kids at risk, using a cool new idea (but a very old technique). By using Lenticular printing, they were able to show two different ads in one print – one for kids, and one for adults. Adults see a different image and message than what the kids see. Smart, creative and important. [more]
