We are almost done with 2010 which means you are running out of time to participate in our monthly forum photo contest. What better way to test out those new Christmas cameras than to submit an entry and take a chance at winning a new photo toy we actually use here at Fstoppers.
As we do every month, the winner of the contest gets to pick the next theme, and November contest winner Janis Amolins has chosen “Illusion”. This month’s winner will also win a custom image and website link on the Fstoppers rotating banner above as well as a Photoflex LightReach Kit which is perfect for lighting your location photos (no assistant needed either). As always, our contests are judged by the winner of the previous month’s contest so you have to impress Janis and not anyone on the Fstoppers Staff. Have fun submitting to the December Fstoppers Forum Contest and good luck to everyone!
So we did a little experiment and tried our first ever photoshop contest….and the results were interesting to say the least. I think the holiday parties might have come early for some of our readers! If you have not checked out the images submitted you can check them out here on the forum. I really wanted to pick one of the crazy ones that made me and Lee laugh as the winner but I have to give credit where credit is due. So hit the Full post to see who won the Think Tank Photo Urban Disguise 35 camera bag and let us know in the comments if you guys enjoyed this contest. Also check out our monthly photo contest running on the forum here (December theme is “Illusion”).
After 45 days, we are proud to announce that we have randomly chosen a Twitter follower as our winner. View the full post to see if you are that lucky winner.
On Wednesday we are giving away an iPad to a random Twitter follower but this contest is all about skill. Patrick Hall did an incredible photoshoot for the next Fstoppers Original BTSV (which should be released soon) and he has a ton of great wakeboarding pictures with tremendous potential. The rules could not be easier: simply download this high res image, edit it any way you like, and then post it here on our forum by Thursday at midnight eastern time. On Friday, Patrick will choose his favorite edit.
The winner of this contest will receive a Think Tank Photo Urban Disguise 35 camera bag and the chance to be a part of the next FS Original Video. Due to shipping costs, the bag can only be shipped to a North American address.
Congratulations to Janis Amolins for winning the November Fstoppers Forum Photo Contest. Click the previous link to see his winning photograph or watch for it on our top rotating banner at the top of the site (first image on your mobile device).

If you are laying on your couch reading this after a Thanksgiving binge, then there probably isn’t much hope for you. But if you didn’t over due the calories (or aren’t in America) then you still have 5 days to participate in our Monthly Fstoppers Forum Contest! This month’s theme is “Emotion” and I still think the winning image is up for grabs.
The winner of this month’s contest is going to win a Photoflex Multidisc Kit which is a great tool for when you need extra light and don’t have a strobe with you. We use these all the time with video, and it is crucial to have the reflector holder when you don’t have an extra set of hands on set. If you win, you will also get your image and website at the top of our site for a month. So head over to the Forum Contest Thread and post your best “Emotion” photo.
If you haven’t participated in our monthly Fstoppers Forum Contest, well then you are really missing out. This month’s theme is “Emotion” and from looking at the posts so far the contest is anyone’s game. I know our readers have some good emotional images; let’s see them! The winner of this month’s contest is going to win a Photoflex Multidisc Kit which is really useful when you need extra fill or perhaps some shade from the sun. We use these all the time with video and it’s nice having the reflector grip to firmly hold everything in place. You also get your image and website at the top of our site for a month. So head over to the Forum Contest Thread and post your best “Emotion” photo.
So you’ve seen the video on how to tether your iPad to your DSLR camera, and you heard the announcement from Lee that we are giving away an Apple iPad in December. So what do you have to do to win the iPad for yourself? It’s really easy: just follow us on twitter and send out one tweet about Fstoppers. That’s it; plain and simple! On December 15th we will pick a random user from the previous 30 days and Christmas will come 10 days early Feel free to share this video explaining the rules to your friends and check out the BTS video at the end showing how we used an entry level camera, a photoflex reflector, one prime lens, and an iPhone to film the most basic fstoppers video yet (and the first one in 1080). Due to mail/customs issues, this contest is only open to US and Canada residence. Don’t worry, we will be doing a big world wide contest again very soon.<

Congratulations to Justin Trapp for winning the Sports Themed October Fstoppers Forum Contest! Each month we host a photo contest over at FstoppersForum.com where the winner gets their photography on the top banner of Fstoppers.com as well as a nice piece of lighting equipment from the good folks at Photoflex. This month Photoflex is giving away an OctoDome: Extra Small Basic Kit.
If you win you will also get to pick the theme for the next month’s contest as well as choose the winner. This month Justin will be our guest judge. So if you think you have what it takes to compete, head over to the Contest and post your best EMOTION themed photo.
Just a friendly reminder that you have 2 days left to enter our monthly photo contest. Submit your “sport” pictures here on our forum.
Are you a photographer who felt like you were unable to participate in our BTS summer contest because you didn’t own a DSLR that shot video? Well our good friend Michael over at www.Michaelthemaven.com is hosting a few contests and one of the prizes is a Canon T2i digital camera. What do you have to do to win you ask? Just submit your best cell phone photo! Lee and I are “Celebrity” judges for the contest and right now only 20 submissions have been made. You can read more about the contest here and you have until Friday to submit. Too bad we are judges or I might have tried to enter myself
The September contest just wrapped up and I am happy to say that Shaadi Faris won. It will be shocking to many of you that Shaadi is not a professional photographer and does not have a website but he still won this contest with over 150 submissions. As promised, Shaadi now has a banner on the top of FS and he won a small LiteDome kit from Photoflex.
Shaadi chose to make the theme for the October contest “sport” and he will be choosing the winner at the end of the month. Photoflex decided to raise the bar and give a Octodome NXT Kit to the winner this month! Head on over to the forum here to submit your image for this months contest. I’m am actually really envious that I can’t compete in this contest; I want that bank!
This is just a friendly reminder that the winner for our monthly contest will be chosen in 2 days. If you haven’t entered yet, you can submit your pictures with the theme of “motion” here. This months winner will get to have their website/image on our banner on the top of Fstoppers.com and Photoflex will be giving the winner a LiteDome Kit for your on camera flash.
I am happy to say that our contest is finally over and Paddy Fernandez has won by a landslide (93 votes, Sans was second with 51). As promised, Paddy will get to choose between a Nikon D300s or a Canon 7D. With this camera we hope that Paddy will continue to create BTSVs for us and now they will be in beautiful HD.
I know that the voting for this contest has not gone as smoothly as we all would have wanted but we can say that there was no cheating involved and we jumped the gun when we paused the contest. In the future we will probably have some sort of celebrity judge panel for our big contests to keep issues like this from happening.
Please congratulate Paddy and give us ideas for the next contest in the comment box below. Also, don’t forget about our monthly photography contest.
