Here’s a bright and sweet series by NYC photographer TOMAAS. Although I’m tired of seeing photos of models with XYZ pasted on their lips or eyelids, this series caught my eye because TOMAAS mixes in some fresh ways for utilizing candy (and props in general). [more]
Let’s face it, as much as we want to believe great photographs are created “in camera”, every single image you see published has been manipulated in Photoshop in some way. When it comes to producing attention grabbing photos, having a strong grasp on post production goes a long way. Oct 30th – Nov 1st fashion photographer Lindsay Adler will be setting down the camera and teaching everything she knows about retouching in her creativeLIVE workshop Retouching and Creative Photoshop. If you have a few spare minutes, be sure to tune into her free video stream. The full workshop description is [more]
Benjamin Kanarek is quickly becoming one of my favorite fashion photographers. He just released his editorial spread, “In My Castle,” for Harpers BAZAAR en Español covering Haute Couture, which only comes twice a year and is only shown in Paris. The photos are absolutely gorgeous. This is truly fashion photography at it’s finest!
Growing up I was always excited when there was a James Bond marathon on TV. My dad was equally excited, but it took me a few years to realize his joy too. Bond films have always had a history of showcasing beautiful women as the romantic interest, and the new Bond film, Skyfall, is no exception. Harper’s Bazaar en Espanol features Bérénice Marlohe, the newest Bond girl in their November issue next month. Check out these photos (and video) of the gorgeous 33 year old shot by Benjamin Kanarek.
It’s amazing what some people can do with just their camera, self timer and a little imagination. Kyle Thompson is one of those people. He takes by far the most amazing self portraits I have ever seen. From gorgeous to creepy and everything in between, every single shot of his is perfect. [more]

In an effort to raise awareness of overfishing in the Atlantic Ocean, a coalition of photographers in Europe came together to work on a project known as FishLove. By showing how much these celebs love fish (enough to get naked with them!) they’re hoping to bring attention to the plight of many overfished species. While the photos are certainly attention grabbing, I think I much would have preferred video of naked celebrities trying to pose with live fish. In case you were wondering, this post is definitely NSFW and, while I’m at it, not safe for schools, either. [more]
Carpet hasn’t looked this cool since the 70′s. Take a look at what set designer Adi Goodrich and photography team JUCO came up with for Lulu’s Fall 2012 campaign. [more]

London photog, Dave Kai-Piper, is one of my favorite people in the fashion photography industry. He is talented, driven, kind and a blast to work with. I got to meet Dave and his close friend/assistant/videographer, Paul McKelvie in England last year while shooting video for a web series and the 3 of us have been good friends since. Their video “Sequence 9″ is Dave and Paul’s effort to show the beauty in all forms in the world around us by bringing together timelapse photography and what I can only describe as “BTS-Fine-Art-Fashion” videography. Be sure to check out Dave and Paul and enjoy the video! [more]
A few months back Victoria’s Secret accidentally released a dozen unretouched photos from a shoot with supermodel Doutzen Kroes. We shared those images in a post on Fstoppers and it caught the attention of many of you. The retouched versions of those same photos are now out. Let’s compare the results! [more]
A lot of times on FStoppers we see shoots that are very gear focused, after all that’s what we’re here for isn’t it? We tend to focus on shoots that have some sort of technical wizardry behind them, but sometimes it’s best to strip away all of the extras and focus on what you’re shooting. In this video Lindsay Adler takes us through a very cool fashion shoot that is lit very simply using only a beauty dish and a small silver reflector.
Follow Michael Zelbel from SmokingStrobes.com as he shows you how to light isolated body parts of your model in an stunning and artistic way using only a one light set-up. He uses just a shoot-through umbrella and a speedlight at a quarter of the power. So, the next time you’re searching for an easy set-up to capture some simple low light bodyscapes look no further. While perusing the internet this morning I came upon the recent fashion shoot of Joanna Kustra and caught myself staring for minutes marveling at the gorgeous shots and beautiful lighting. The shoot titled, Misty Dream, was a beauty editorial assignment for Factice Magazine. From watching the behind the scenes video I gather she is shooting with a Nikon 85mm 1.4 lens using Calumet lighting and shooting through a 48″ Octobox. [more]
Back in August we featured Tim Tadder‘s series of water wig shots using bald guys. Well Tim is back and this time his impressive series of shots are done with women in latex. Does it get better! Actually as Tim explains the latex fit well as it went with the futuristic fashion shoot concept and allowed them to easily wipe dry after each shot. Red Bull was also on site with a Phantom camera to capture the entire shoot behind the scenes. The movie will be released soon and we look forward to seeing it as I am sure many of you are as well.
