Each of us have particular photographers who we follow and are absolutely mind blown each time they post work. Matthieu Belin is one of those photographers on my list. His work has been published in Vogue, GQ, Elle, Surface, Life and Bazaar as well as many other well known publications and advertising campaigns. This latest shoot done in Anhui Village, China is just one more example of the incredible work Belin continues to create.
Liu Xianping is making headlines for modeling his granddaughter's fashion line for a new Chinese store called Yuekou. 72-year-old Liu posed for numerous product shots on Yuekou's Tmall website and according to an interview, the idea came out when Liu was helping his granddaughter, "Ms. Lu," unpack a shipment of new clothing.
Fashion Photographer Lindsay Adler has put together a new behind the scenes video that shows you how she is able to capture images of a model that look like silhouettes, but still have glare and depth as if they were wearing latex. This video shows us the lighting setup in her studio for capturing these unique images.
With a simple change in focal length, we know that we can drastically change and control the depth of field. In this lesson from The Slanted Lens, Jay P Morgan shoots a fashion portrait at the Vasquez Rocks in California. Not only does he cover how to control the depth of field, but you'll also learn how he uses this tip to enhance his work.
Let's face it, as much as we want to believe great photographs are created "in camera", every single image you see published has been manipulated in Photoshop in some way. When it comes to producing attention grabbing photos, having a strong grasp on post production goes a long way. Oct 30th - Nov 1st fashion photographer Lindsay Adler will be setting down the camera and teaching everything she knows about retouching in her creativeLIVE workshop Retouching and Creative Photoshop. If you have a few spare minutes, be sure to tune into her free video stream. The full workshop description is
Benjamin Kanarek is quickly becoming one of my favorite fashion photographers. He just released his editorial spread, "In My Castle," for Harpers BAZAAR en Español covering Haute Couture, which only comes twice a year and is only shown in Paris. The photos are absolutely gorgeous. This is truly fashion photography at it's finest!
Growing up I was always excited when there was a James Bond marathon on TV. My dad was equally excited, but it took me a few years to realize his joy too. Bond films have always had a history of showcasing beautiful women as the romantic interest, and the new Bond film, Skyfall, is no exception. Harper's Bazaar en Espanol features Bérénice Marlohe, the newest Bond girl in their November issue next month. Check out these photos (and video) of the gorgeous 33 year old shot by Benjamin Kanarek.
It's amazing what some people can do with just their camera, self timer and a little imagination. Kyle Thompson is one of those people. He takes by far the most amazing self portraits I have ever seen. From gorgeous to creepy and everything in between, every single shot of his is perfect.

In an effort to raise awareness of overfishing in the Atlantic Ocean, a coalition of photographers in Europe came together to work on a project known as FishLove. By showing how much these celebs love fish (enough to get naked with them!) they're hoping to bring attention to the plight of many overfished species. While the photos are certainly attention grabbing, I think I much would have preferred video of naked celebrities trying to pose with live fish. In case you were wondering, this post is definitely NSFW and, while I'm at it, not safe for schools, either.
