Don’t believe this is the same image? I didn’t either and that’s why I created an animated gif to prove it. The Thatcher effect is a phenomenon where it becomes difficult to detect local feature changes in an upside down face. This strange human glitch was named after Margaret Thatcher, whose image this was first tested on. These images were taken by Anuschka Blommers and Niels Schumm for the new Dove Campaign. You’ll have to watch it a few times to believe it for yourself. [more]

UPDATED WITH PETER’S Full RES FILES! New cameras are getting faster and faster each year. In over a decade DSLRs have gone from 6 fps to 12 fps, and now many can shoot 60 frames of HD video. We’ve all heard it before, “At some point photographers will just shoot video and pull the best frame out” but is this really even feasible? Without the push from a big record label very few people would every be able to hear your music. Unless you could sign with a producer you would never be able to raise the millions necessary to make a movie. The internet has changed all of that; and you no longer have an excuse.
Realm Pictures has been working on “The Underwater Realm” (one of the most ambitious indie film attempts I’ve ever seen) for months now and have been coming out with great BTSVs along the way. The team recently realized that they need to film parts of their movie in an underwater studio and to do this they need to raise more funds. The team has turned to Kickstarter.com to help out but they aren’t just asking for money. If you pledge $50 you will receive a special edition copy of their movie “Zomblies” and 10 in-depth video tutorials on indie film making tips like the one below.

There are a ton of car photographers out there but very few of them are this good. Lee Howell just sent me his newest portfolio shoot that involved shooting a new Audi R8 GT in a soon to be opened tunnel. Lee got his hands on one of the craziest car rigs I have ever seen and walks us through the basics of his production. With a little bit of post work, the images become world class shots.
