[Humor] Instagram Uses Facebook’s 1 Billion Dollars To Make An Instant Camera

It’s Friday, have a laugh. The crew over at The Verge put together this video of a (fake) camera that resembles a Polaroid by instantly producing a printed image out of it’s body. This model, made by Instagram, lets you add you own effects for an even more unique look at your images! I can’t wait to buy one of these and start shooting professional looking wedding photos! [Video] An Almost-Vintage Walk Down Memory Lane For The 80s Kids

Antonio Vicentini recently created this 8-bit gallery of cameras spanning pretty much everything from antique large format cameras through modern DSLRs. It’s a cute, semi-retro, nostalgia-inducing piece for anyone who grew up in the 80s or early 90s. What I find most interesting is how many cameras I was able to recognize; though I’m not sure if that means I’m an uber-dork who has spent far too much time in front of old game consoles and camera websites, or I’ve just got a killer memory. How many cameras do you recognize?

We recently had the chance to sit down with the LensRentals team and learn everything about what just might be photography’s most fascinating company. [more]

[Funny] Amazing Family Portrait Sessions

Quite often, aspiring photographers of the world turn to the almighty interwebs to find answers to “How to take photos of __________”. Sometimes, the better question is “How NOT to take photos of __________”. Here are some examples of how NOT to take portraits of families while you’re in your basement home studio. [more]

[Pics/Funny] Bizarre Black and White Photographs

These days, it’s not uncommon for 90% of what I shoot to end up filed away in some hard drive on a shelf never to be used. In that library of images, I have my fair share of weird shots and bizarre candids. However they don’t hold up to what the blog Black and WTF showcases. I’m really at a loss for any more words. You’ll have to enjoy these for yourself to get why I have nearly laughed myself into a coma. Happy Friday everyone! [more]

[Comical] Which Camera Is The Best: D800 or 5D Mark III

The web is abuzz with comparison articles on which $3000 DSLR camera is the best bang for the buck. Kevin Good with CrisisLab recently did a side by side comparison of the Canon 5D Mark III and the Nikon D800 in several real world tests. His tests include Resolution, Rolling Shutter, High ISO Test, and Durability. Each test was conducted to the highest of standards and perhaps might be the most scientific review I’ve seen yet. Now off to Craigslist to find me some models! [more]

[Humor] What You May Look Like When Taking Pictures

Let’s hope this is not what you look like when taking pictures. Admit it, we’ve all been guilty of strange poses. I’m sure these shots are also making you wonder if there’s a shot of you floating around depicting you in an odd pose. These shots really make it easy to laugh at ourselves as we sometimes see ourselves in their shoes, at least to a lesser degree. [more]

[Humor] What Happens when Ellen Directs A Photoshoot

Check out what happened when Ellen Degeneres “directed” a photoshoot by telling the photographer exactly what to say to her models through an earpiece. I think Ellen got the potential to make it big in the photo industry. Don’t you think?

Perfect For “Shooting” Photos – Camera Designed As A Rifle. Seriously.

Randy Gregg has started a Kickstarter campaign to fund the development of a digital camera that is built to look just like a hunting rifle. It’s completely non-lethal, and pulling the trigger will store your images, complete with crosshair overlay, onto an SD card. For hunters and law enforcement this might be useful, but something tells me I won’t see this in a lineup next to a bunch of DSLRs when shooting public events. Hit the jump for some renders of the product and Randy’s Kickstarter.

[Humor] Conan O’Brien Editors Rave About Adobe Premiere

You may recall that Rob Ashe and his fellow post gurus who work on the Conan O’Brien Show publicly bashed Final Cut X a while back. They’ve returned with a new video, proclaiming their love for Adobe Premiere, or as Rob refers to it, Final Cut Pro 8. Final Cut X has had several updates since it’s initial release, but is it still lacking? Have you made the switch? Are you cutting home movies in 4K?

This is one you won’t want to miss. [more]
