18 years ago this Christmas I received my first snowboard, and with that my first true love was born. I went from the age of 10 till 18 snowboarding as much as possible. The last 10 years have been a little more difficult as life consistently has landed me in places not nearly as conducive to snowboarding as growing up in NH was. That’s how I came to fall in love with photography, a lack of snowboarding. Today I was introduced to the work of Ben Birk, and I am now left with an ache in my hear that only the mountains can cure. To have an eye for fine art requires a special kind of talent. Nicolas Ruel does a fantastic job of creating unique photographs that capture the essence of a city in his “8 Seconds” project. For all of his images within the project, he sets the camera to an 8 second exposure and changes perspective mid shot. This lets him capture a layering effect in a single shot.
The incredibly young and talented, Joey L. has released a new documentary that was shot while shooting his intimate series of photos, ‘Holy Men’. Set in the breathtaking backdrop of India, the documentary filmed by Cale Glendening shows Joey while at work with his assistant Ryan, but more importantly proves that capturing an amazing portrait isn’t just about the latest gear or technique, but truly the subject.

I know this whole “Instagram” look has been done over and over yet there is just something about all these shots that gets me. The composition, DOF, ideas, everything just comes together so nicely. Wedding photography to me, is the hardest form of photography. There are so many different elements you have to deal with on extremely shot notices. However from the looks of it, Omar has that taken care of. His wedding/engagement shots are different from anything I have seen. From old vintage looks to high fashion James Bond inspired shots, Omar does it all. [more]
I love B&W photography. There is just something about it that captures you and makes you sit there and stare at it. The work of Ali Muhammad does just that. Though im not the biggest fan of the crops on these shots, I can push that aside and just stare. [more]
