Tamron Releases Pricing of New 90mm f/2.8 Macro and 70-200mm f/2.8 Lenses

Tamron’s updated 90mm f/2.8 1:1 macro lens that was announced at Photokina got a price tag today, and will ship on November 30 of this year. You can get this new lens for a pretty low $850, which is great considering the prices that Canon and Nikon can ask for their branded lenses. Tamron also released the pricing for their new 70-200mm f/2.8 lens released at the same time for $1500. [more]

Canon Announces the New 24-70mm f/4 IS and 35mm f/2 IS Lenses

You’ve likely read the rumors, and now Canon has made those a reality in officially announcing the availability of two new lenses: the 24-70mm f/4 IS and the 35mm f/2 IS. The EF 24-70mm f/4L IS USM is expected to be available in December for an approximate retail price of $1,499.00, and the The EF 35mm f/2 IS USM lens is expected to be available in December for an approximate retail price of $849.99. UK Advertising Standards Authority Bans New Dior Ads

The ever vigilant UK watchdog group the Advertising Standards Authority has banned yet another advertisement from appearing in any UK markets. The offending Dior Ad, featuring Natalie Portman was cited for being over photoshopped and Dior has agreed to withdraw the ad without a fight. This is probably due to the fact that if they were to stage a formal appeal, they would be forced to argue that they didn’t over retouch the image in the ad.

Disney Acquires Lucasfilm, Star Wars Franchise: More Star Wars Films Coming

In the most unexpected yet earth-shattering news in recent film and video memory, Disney has agreed to purchase Lucasfilm for a reported $4.05 billion. Along with that purchase, Disney has stated that it will continue to produce original Star Wars films and related material. Since I know that most all of our readers grew up watching Star Wars and at some point in their life have pretended to wield a lightsaber, this has got to be the greatest Star Wars news in some time. FS First Look: Sigma’s Outstanding New Lenses

Last month we reported Sigma’s total revamp of their lens lineup. Their new organization would place lenses in one of three categories: Art, Sports, and Contemporary. Those categories were then immediately filled by three new lenses: The 35mm f/1.4, the 120-300mm f/2.8, and the 17-70mm f/2.8-4.0 macro.
