Sometimes being in the photography community is more than just talking to each other about new techniques or sharing new photos. Sometimes it could be something much bigger and much more meaningful. 30 year old New York based photographer Michael Popp is fighting Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia, and needs your help to fight it. Michael needs over $100,000 for treatments and drugs, and is nowhere close to this amount right now. Lets all help him and prove this is more than a community – it’s a family. [more]
You may have heard of Google Glass in the past, with their nerdy glasses that stream social media directly into your field of vision. Their first video felt unpractical, and at time, a nuisance. They’ve changed that with their latest video, showing how you can seamlessly blend technology with your day to day life through photography, image searching and creating videos on the fly. Is this the future of technology; is our next camera just going to be photographing our field of vision? [more]
As most of you know, we have a POTD feature which uses a single image for a 24 hour span and then archives them for later viewing in a month/day/year format. While it’s pretty neat, to be sure, I know that we could improve on it quite a bit to make it both more interesting for viewers and more beneficial for the photographers we feature. [more]
“What If My Red Is Your Green?” is a question I ask myself for many years now. As a photographer this question/issue was always on my mind: I work so hard to get (what I see as) the perfect colors, and what I see as beautiful, but I have no way to know if the colors I see are the same colors you see. We all agree that red is red, and green is green. We all know that a lemon is yellow and a strawberry is red. But is it possible that you see yellow the way I see blue? Michael from VSauce did his best to answer the question. [more]
I’m kind of a huge fan of fantasy novels, and Game of Thrones (along with The Name of the Wind) is probably my favorite modern fantasy epic. I also greatly enjoy the television series on HBO. In this video you can see how the visual effects artists rendered the 3D for the final scene of Game of Thrones Season 1. Please note, this scene does have nudity. Also, SPOILERS. [more]
At Fstoppers, we do our best to stay away from topics that are strictly political in nature. Generally speaking, it’s not our place. We are a blog for creative professionals, not any number of sites that poke at hot button issues for the sake of sensationalism. However, once in a while, a situation arises that directly affects photographers and their decisions. One such situation occurred when Weddings Unveiled Magazine rejected a photographer’s paid advertisement. [more]
During this last superbowl there were some pretty amazing commercials, but one stood out to me. The new live action, God of War Ascension trailer. Being a huge fan of the God of War series I was happy to see the character, ‘Kratos’, brought to life. Below are the behind the scenes videos on how they brought the game out of the Playstation and into the real world. [more]

Here are some of the best answers given by other photographers in the industry. Be sure to post your own answers in the comments as well! [more]
