Painful Images of Shark Trading in the Arabian Sea

As a resident of a coastal town, I can’t imagine what it would be like if this were happening here. This past summer a friend of mine took me fishing, not for nourishment but for the experience and I ended up catching a baby shark (don’t worry, I threw him back in). The whole experience was pretty amazing. Then back in October I got scuba certified and got to “swim with the fishies.” So when I saw these images taken by Thomas P. Peschak for TIME Magazine of the shark trading business, I was shocked. [more]

Crazy Amazing Images of the Inner Workings of Amazon During Holiday Sales

I love Amazon. I shop there all the time, and I actually took care of 90% of my Christmas shopping through Amazon (the other 10% through Gilt). You have to at some point imagined what life looked like in the shipping facility during the holiday season, and these images really show how crazy huge their operation is. [more]

Creative Personal Project – “In a New York Minute”

I believe that if a photographer wants to grow in their craft one of the best exercises they can do is pick a particular subject and focus on all the different ways to shoot it. While out in North Carolina I met Stephen Wilfong, a photographer there that over the course of 7 years pushed his creative boundaries to shoot every clock he could find in New York City. [more]

Powerful Photos Of Devastation And Destruction Around The World

It could be the aftermath of a war, or the result of a strong Tsunami. It could be the destruction of a Hurricane, or the Devastation of a terror attack. The moment after something horrible happens, is also the moment people capture powerful images of (bad) historic events. We all remember few iconic shots of such events, photos we’ve seen for hundreds of times on TV, in newspapers or just online. This is why I chose to feature very powerful images you probably never saw before.

Model and DJ Alexandra Richards, Daughter of Rolling Stones Keith Richards photographed by Benjamin Kanarek for Harper’s BAZAAR

I love fashion photography. It has been a dream of mine to shoot for magazines such as BAZAAR. Benjamin Kanarek did just that and had the opportunity to shoot Model and DJ, Alexandra Richards who is the daughter of Rolling Stones Keith Richards. From the looks of it, Benjamin went for a very simple look. Looks to me like a single Light source from overhead and a white wall with harsh shadows. Thats a bit different from most fashion shoots. Usually photographers go for soft shadows and use key lights, rim lights and fill lights. So seeing a high fashion shoot done with a simple technique is quite refreshing. [more]

Breathtaking Landscape Photography By Fakrul Jamil

I’ve never been one to take landscape pictures. I just don’t like any that I take. I can’t seem to get the composition right or lighting. I am a portrait photographer. It’s what I do. However, I greatly appreciate photographers who are able to capture the true beauty of a certain location. Photographers, like Fakrul, are able to do just that. The perfect exposure, bringing out details I would never have noticed had I been the one to take the shot. [more]

Stunning Spread From A 1960′s Harper’s BAZAAR

In 1963, American photographer Melvin Sokolsky shot a gorgeous series for Harper’s BAZAAR of a model inside a giant plexi-glass bubble all around Paris. I can’t say enough about these images. They are timeless and even wow me today more than 50 years later. What a spectacularly executed concept that really draws you in and keeps you wanting for more. Well done Sokolsky, well done. Enjoy! Gorgeous Photography By Javier Gil

“I started using Photoshop since i was a little kid, I would use a 1 mega pixel camera and invite my friends over. I would then take photos of them and photoshop them really tiny fighting my toys and what not. I think after that, I’ve always had an interest in photography. One funny thing though, i failed photography and Photoshop twice in high school. Just because i never wanted to do the projects our teacher gave us. Instead i would Photoshop the teacher like hulk and what not. Ha hah. I have never done a 365 or 52 project, even though I’m dying to do one. Just don’t think i have the time at the moment.” – Javier Gil [more]

Landscape Photography By Carlos Resende

“My name is Carlos Resende. I am 41 years old and I live in Lisbon, Portugal. I am an amateur photographer who is very passionate about the art of landscape photography.
Not having inherited any photographic genes in my DNA, I would say that photography came into my life by accident. It resulted from my need to find a replacement for my previous ‘hobby’ which used to be Archery. [more]

Fashion and Beauty Photography By Elena Jasic

About two months ago I was invited into a photography group on Facebook called CREATIVOS. I’m actually not sure how I got an invite, because the group is bursting with young talent, and while they all are wonderful, Elena Jasic‘s work immediately stood out to me. [more]

Wedding/Life Style Photography Of Omar Carter

Wedding photography to me, is the hardest form of photography. There are so many different elements you have to deal with on extremely shot notices. However from the looks of it, Omar has that taken care of. His wedding/engagement shots are different from anything I have seen. From old vintage looks to high fashion James Bond inspired shots, Omar does it all. [more]

Gorgeous Black And White Photography By Ali Muhammad

” My name is Laina Briedis. I’ve lived on Long Island all my life, and for as long as I can remember I have been captivated with the concept, practice, and art of photography.
