Our good friend David Bergman was hired by Sports Illustrated to shoot the Olympics once again this year. David is becoming more and more well known for his Gigapan images which require a camera to take hundreds of pictures that are then stitched together in post. Ken Block, owner of DC Shoes and action sports mogul is well known for his incredible skill in a rally car. He’s also been known to make some incredible videos, such as his original Gymkhana piece. For this installment, Gymkhana 5, Ken decided that he wanted to take over San Francisco: and that is just what he did. The progression of technology has allowed for us to capture shots in angles that we would not usually be able to capture. Robotic cameras have the ability to fit into spaces and locations that a photographer would usually not be able to get to. These are fully controlled by remote as well. The Olympic Committee’s Media Summit in Dallas, Texas was held back in May of this year. A number of photographers were invited to shoot the event. Joe Klamar was one of the the photographers who captured portraits of the 2012 U.S. Olympic Team. Once the images became public, people were not pleased with the outcome and it went viral. GoPro has become one of those companies like Redbull where everything they put out there is pretty cool. It has been fun seeing such a small startup become the industry leaders in tiny HD video cameras. With their new Wifi BacPac, GoPro gives users the ability to control their cameras through tablets like the iPad and smart phones. Unlike previous versions of the Hero, you can now control the shutter, camera modes, and other options with a simple remote. It’s pretty amazing to see what this camera has become in just a few years. Rock on GoPro!
Skater Kilian Martin sets new standards in the world of skateboarding. Mb! joined forces with Killian and filmmaker Brett Novak to create his newest video “Kilian Martin: Altered Route”. Aside from the fact that Killian does things with a skateboard that I have never seen anyone else do … ever, Brett captures each trick and angle perfectly. I especially love the way Brett juxtaposed the nostalgic clips from the water park back in it’s heyday to it’s current ghost-townly state. Enjoy!
