The Wednesday Rundown 4.20.11

Howdy, and welcome to the Wednesday Rundown. This week we have an array of videos sent it from the crowd. Joao sent in a fashion shoot video, with a hotel as the location. What do you think of the vintage filter on the video? I am loving it right now. We also have links to all the photographers sites so you can check out more on the photographer / videographer’s work. Thanks again for everyone that sent in a video. If you have a video that you think we might like to post, please click on “submit content” above.

The Wednesday Rundown 4.13.11

Howdy, and welcome to the Wednesday Rundown. This week I did some research on Terry Richardson. Most of the time when I see his pictures I am reminded of how harsh direct flash can be. This guy lives for the in your face, blow your eyes out flash. What is it with this guy and honestly his technique that has made it? We all have had a point and shoot camera with a flash on it, but somehow this “look” has made it into countless magazines. So many times I pick up a high fashion magazine in NYC and there are tons of this snapshot photos that I think any hack could do. Maybe it is just the simplest form of lighting… Was his content just so good that he could light it however he wanted or is it just unique? The Wednesday Rundown 4.6.2011

Howdy, and welcome to the Wednesday Rundown. The past couple of weeks I have been surrounded by photos of urban decay. I love seeing photos of the past fading away but still being able to see the beauty shinning through. New York contains tons of these places. How hard is it to get in the places and really how much trouble can you get into? The videos this week are not photo shoots, however they are videos of the beauty people have found in places they should not be. I would have to believe some of the crowd here at fstoppers would have some good stories on this topic. Please share stories and the photos you snag while being in places you should have not been. Fstoppers does not legally condone tresspassing, I might have done it once or twice, but please share some good unique photos. The Wednesday Rundown 3.30.11

Howdy, and welcome to the Wednesday Rundown. How many of us really take advantage of the video function of our camera? I have been able to see Lee and Patrick transform from strickly photography to a being able to knock out some great videos. It does take time and they don’t let me hang out with them while they are editing, I tend to get them off topic a bunch, but these guys really make it look easy. If you haven’t had the chance to sit down and dabble around with editing video, well now is the time. I have found a great video editing tutorial and even some great looking open source editing software. You may have to do some reading on these but it is worth a shot, you really have no excuse. With everyone else learning you should jump on the wagon and catch up. What if shooting video takes over shooting stills for weddings or other major events? Could it happen in our lifetime? The Wednesday Rundown 3.23.11

Howdy, and welcome to the Wednesday Rundown. With living in NYC I see a surprising number of people shooting with film cameras, I even own a couple of old school polaroid cameras myself. While most of these shooters are wearing tight jeans and odd facial hair, I wonder if film is already dead? We have phones now that can fake almost any film under the sun, who would shoot film? This week I have found a couple of BTS video of Film shoots. Do you shoot with film at all anymore or is it only the hipsters? Please lay down your vote on the poll in the post. If you have a video that you think we might like to post, please click on “submit content” above.

The Wednesday Rundown 3.16.11

Howdy, and welcome to the Wednesday Rundown. I know several photographers that have done some DIY projects for shoots to dodge the expense of buying the overpriced gear. There are many items that you can create for your shoots, beauty dishes, flash diffusers, and even tilt shift lenses. I ran across two DIY items for shooting DLSR video. Do you do the cheap DIY or buy the real stuff? If you have a video that you think we might like to post, please click on “submit content” above.

The Wednesday Rundown 3.9.11

Howdy, and welcome to the Wednesday Rundown. This week we have a video from the guys at Lighten Up and Shoot. I have posted videos from them before and always enjoy them. Check out their latest video and search around for some other videos they have put out on the net. If you have a video that you think we might like to post, please click on “submit content” above.
