fstoppers, i like this video about fashion shoot using cellphone. Specially they used n8, but i don’t like the way they tell people about the shoot. The way they claimed the work as the worlds first.

Your iphone fashion shoot is still better than that in terms of how you shared information about the whole shoot. From the camera used, models, and up to the post processed pictures. It inspires many photographers. Please keep posting more FStoppers original BTS.

Perhaps, just perhaps they had the same idea as you?

I think too much is being made of the whole originality concept…its a phone with a camera, so it was only a matter of time before someone decided to use one in such a way.

I’m off to take the worlds first photo with my new toaster/phone so no one copy my idea ok?!

Yeah, that was terrible.
I’m South African by citizenship, I support my SA cricket team.. But not a lot else back that side of the planet..

They had the opportunity to create something new, fresh and exciting.. and they go do things that have been done.. And they didnt even do it with some added X-factor. It was bland.

- Suggestion –
Why not do a competition for the best phone shoot/photo. Open submissions across the fields.
I’m sure a good few members can rock some really awesome photos… could be interesting to see the content that comes up?

n1xOn, I don’t think we ever claimed to be the first to shoot a photoshoot with a camera phone. Ours was one of the first to be done in the studio as Elizabeth’s was just outside with natural light. The point isn’t who is the first but who’s idea was original in concept. We just wanted to show that professional studio results were possible without having to have the fanciest camera out at the moment.

To be honest – neither of you scored “the world first” in terms of use of a camera-phone for a professional shoot… in any aspect of the “world first” to be precise.

FStoppers did maybe the “most famous” iPhone photoshoot, those Nokia N8 dudes did maybe “best looking camera-phone mag cover” but neither was “world first”.

First shot of this kind was done in 2008 in a studio, on a Sony-Ericsson Cyber-shot K850 phone and was posted on the web and on the cover of an european photographic magazine.

Then it was done AGAIN in 2009 by Elizabeth Weinberg and posted on YouTube.

In my book neither Nokia, neither iPhone shoot can claim “originality” in any way.
