Scientists predict that all marine life will effectively disappear from our oceans by the middle of this century if nothing is done about over-fishing. The people in these photographs want over-fishing to stop. You, too, can help by joining OCEAN2012.    Some of the fish shown in these photographs are over-fished and threatened. We asked Waitrose to  provide  examples of fish they would not stock as well as those they do so as to highlight what species could be lost if over-fishing continues. Fish come in all shapes and sizes – please help us to keep it that way. Go to a local Waitrose store to find out which fish to buy, or go to fishonline.org    Fishlove was set up in 2009 by Nicholas Röhl, co-owner of Brighton’s Japanese restaurant, MOSHIMO, and the actress Greta Scacchi to help promote ‘End of the Line’.

Pictures are good (not ground-breaking or extremely innovative) and they work for the purpose for which they were shot. Nice concept.

I’d love to hear this. To me, they do what they are intended, and have a unifying concept, something which can’t be said for 99% of all work done by photographers today. They set out what they accomplish to do, which is raise awareness for this cause. In which case I’d say that they are in fact very good photographs. You can’t simply not like a photo and say that it’s bad – would these be bad photos for advertising a hair product? yes. Or for a children’s book? Of course. But for what they set out to do, I’d say they are very good photographs.
