|CREATIVE WAYS OF BLOWING THINGS UPI remember the first time I saw samples of high speed photography; projectiles erupting through everyday household objects. It was a whole new perspective. Wondrous and almost magical. But over the years I found myself asking “How many times can we be subjected to high speed photography of a balloon popping, a light bulb cracking or an egg being shot with a pellet gun?” I’m sick of it! Bored to tears. If I see one more “unique” photo of a water droplet on the rebound I’m going to… Oh wait… hold on a second. What’s do we have here now?|

|ONE WAY TO FIND YOUR STOLEN CAMERAEvery photo you take with your digital camera contains hidden information. This information, called exif data, can also include a unique serial number which identifies your camera. When you use the drag & drop feature, stolencamerafinder reads the serial number from the exif data and attempts to match it against serial numbers it finds on the net. Neato.|

|SHOOTING KIDS MAY BECOME A CRIME Ok, the title is a bit misleading but it was fun to write. It should read, “Photographing Children Without Parental Consent May Become A Crime In NJ”. A hot topic since a 63-year-old man was questioned, by Police, for taping kids at a swim meet. When questioned he said he found girls 8 to 10 sexy. Having nothing to hold him with, he was released. Similar situations have led legislators to propose a bill that would make |shooting photographing kids, without parental consent, punishable by up to 5 years in jail and/or a fine of $15,000. In my opinion such a bill would set a bad precedent and could easily be abused and twisted to seriously hinder the rights of legitimate Photographers. Would you be for or against such a bill? Leave your comments.

|SITES AND APPS ARE STEALING YOUR $#!^The ToS for popular photo-sharing sites and apps such as, picplz, Color, yFrog, Instagram, Flickr, Lockerz, Twitpic and Facebook, allow for them to profit by selling your images. For some people this may not be a big deal, especially when you consider that many of these services are free and we use them to promote ourselves. But as a working Photographer this doesn’t quite sit right with me. These days I’m reluctant to post my work anywhere, including my own home page. Which often has Lee exclaiming, “Dude, whens the last time you’ve shot!?”. Read the post on TheNextWeb and then leave a comment telling us how you feel about these kinds of ToS agreements. |

“A photographer went to a dinner party where he showed many of his photographs. The lady of the house said, those are very nice pictures, you must have a great camera. He said nothing, but when leaving for home offered the following compliment to the lady of the house “The meal was very nice, you must have great pots and pans.”-Anonymous
