Photography Can Help Change The WorldThis week’s Fstoppers Post Pick is one everyone should see. It helped me remember that it’s absolutely crucial for creatives to stretch out and make a difference with what we do. Cause let’s face it, if we’re only in it for the money, our work will become nothing more than a job and trivial one at that. And I must admit, there are times when that’s how I feel about being a photographer.

Cat Photographer Sells Prints for $265, Has His Own Art Show And 62,000+ Facebook FansAs if we human photographers didn’t have enough competition from each other, we now have to contend with Cooper, a 5 year old American Shorthair cat living in Seattle. Once a week he wears a lightweight digital camera fastened to his collar, which snaps a new photo every 2 minutes.

Making Money With Microstock PhotographyI’ve been on the fence about microstock photography for some time now but if you’re like me you have 100 of 1000′s of unused photos backed up on drives long forgotten. PhotoPoly.net’s post, “A Short Guide to Microstock Photography” has me leaning towards the greener side of that fence. And even though I don’t think I could make a living off microstock sites, a little extra scratch here and there certainly wouldn’t hurt. There are a lot of arguments out there, for and against, microstock sites. Where do you stand?

Making The Most Of A Media Rush:
One Girl, One iPhone, One Photo’s Story
Stefanie Gordon’s iPhone image of the Space Shuttle Endeavour’s final launch went viral after she posted it to Twitter. Instant fame no matter how fleeting can be a reward in itself but if you are a prolific shooter and a social butterfly of the wired world this story may give you pause. It should caution you to think about what you have before uploading it to Twitter, Tumblr, Facebook, Instagram, blah, blah, blah. Because even though the mere act of taking a photograph means you hold the copyright, and sharing it on a social media site does nothing to change that, opening the flood gates of social media could devalue that “once in a life time” shot.

Ah.  That one is just a petapixel post.  It’s an interesting photo with an interesting idea/project, even though simple.  Just use that photo as an example, walk around you house and collect items the same color.  Then arrange and shoot them.

Great Work Kenn. 4th one was REALLY hard to find.
                1. Now when I take this picture, I’m looking for that cold hard look you are going to kick my butt.
                2. I’ve heard of the invisible camera scam but the invisible photographer??
                3. Where is the screen on the back of my camera. I can’t see what my picture looks like?
                4. You promised that you wouldn’t break into Big Bird’s dressing room AGAIN.

              • http://kenntam.com Kenn Tam

Lance, are you really still writing captions just for fun or are you just so damn determined that you’ve decided to keep creating your own contest until you win something? :)
Gotta love your dedication. Keep those comments coming.

Nah, I do it for the fun of it. I got into photography for fun and you should always enjoy whatever you are doing. Reading a blog, taking a picture or paying it forward because the moment it’s not fun, I’m done with it. Keep up the great work!

It was actually and you do.  So it was a hard choice.  So hard in fact, that I ended up researching each of your web presences but that helped little.  I even asked my wife, who picked Chad at first thinking you were a different Jonathan Goldberg, based in the UK.  But in the end I flipped my trusty Canadian two dollar piece, known as a toonie, and you won.  And that’s how it happened, despite my joke that it was because your comment was just above Patrick’s.  Until now no one know of the epic battle you and Chad were locked in.  Not even you two. :P

I do agree with all the ideas you have presented in your post. Theyre really convincing and will definitely work. Still, the posts are very short for novices. Could you please extend them a little from next time? Thanks for the post
