Rednecks everywhere rejoice, they are now making "drone munition;" shotgun shells specifically made/marketed to shoot down quadcopters.
AmmoLand.com says that "the rounds are a 12 gauge 3″ shot shell solution aimed at defending against drone-based privacy concerns and terror!" Casey Betzold, the president of Snake River Shooting Products says: “We are very excited to be manufacturing a product focused on defending our freedoms. We see this line as a game changer in the industry and as an important defense against rising threats to our way of life.”
I'm not really sure that these shells have any drone specific modifications aside from the hilarious packaging which will inspire paranoid rednecks to buy and bloggers like me to dish out some free publicity.

What is the difference between a redneck and a hillbilly? I don't get it? A peasant is always a peasant here in europe.
I would say that a hillbilly i someone who lives in the mountains and is out of the loop when it comes to current events. A redneck is a personality or even a way of life. There is certainly some overlap there but these images may help.

Shotguns do not shoot 'bullets'. Before you write about something you should at least know enough so you don't appear moronic. Bullets are: "a projectile for firing from a rifle, revolver, or other small firearm, typically made of metal, cylindrical and pointed, and sometimes containing an explosive." Note there is no mention of shotguns which fire shot (usually lead pellets) or sometimes slugs (solid lead projectiles).

That doesn't apply to hobbyist drones that teenagers have started using to peep into girls bedrooms. I think people are debating without clarifying the differences. If the Air Force flies a drone over my house, I wouldn't care or probably notice. If the neighborhood perv is hovering one in my backyard outside my bedroom window, we are going to have a problem.
If it's a perv, you call the authorities.

Every jurisdiction is different, but many will not do anything. They treat hobbyist drones as RC airplanes rather than cameras. There are several stories about these types of situations. Obviously I wouldn't be able to stand outside someone's bedroom window and take pictures inside, yet drones are exempt. I suspect we will see new legislation as their popularity grows.
I definitely wouldn't shoot a drone with my real gun in my backyard due to violation of local ordinances and general common sense regarding discharging a firearm close to my neighbors. I might employ a water Nerf, or a slingshot, or a net. Frankly, I'd rather catch the drone and turn it over to the cops so the perv can explain why he was peeping through my windows.

marketing. i would say that most guys who own a shotgun and wants to shoot down drones will only buy it if it's cheaper than their regular shell. i think i would have just said shotgun shells in the title, but i'm no writer.

If you shoot down a drone with a firearm you're officially one of the biggest morons I've ever encountered. As a firearm owner and 2A supporter it bothers me that someone is marketing ammunition geared towards property damage.

If you afford a drone that can handle the weight of a D600, you don't have to care if someone shoots it down.

A long time ago, I saw a Ferrari, with the driver still in it, parked half way in a parking spot on the street and half way in the lane. I sped up in my 1974 Ford half-ton, beat-up pickup until he saw me in his rear-view mirror. Priceless look! Needless to say he backed up fully into the spot. :-)

While I don't "condone" destruction of private property, there are some situations where I would "understand" the downing of a drone. Example (a): I live near the worlds busiest airport(Hartsfield-Jackson international), and the possibility of a drone getting sucked into a jet engine is real. Example (b): At this moment in time, pilots cannot drop water on the wildfires in the western United States because of..... You guessed it - drones. Example (c): the "drone-a-razzi". Using drones to get images of celebrities or personalities is over the top for me. Perhaps I'm too old for this stuff, hell, I don't get video on a DSLR's!(I can't serve 2 Gods). BTW, I'm as urban/suburban as those in New York or L.A. Now get off my lawn. Haha.
I get it now..... When a Drone flies into someones property, it is a threat and the Drone is the issue, but when some innocent person gets shot, it is not the gun that is the issue, but the person, interesting......
