Canon Posts Test Images Taken With New 24-70mm F/4 and 35mm f/2

Canon Posts Test Images Taken With New 24-70mm F/4 and 35mm f/2

Canon UK has published five images taken with the two new lenses announced earlier this month. Three images were posted for the 24-70mm f/4 and two for the 35mm f/2. A couple I recognize from the low resolution samples available on the day of announcement, but it's nice that now high resolution samples are available for inspection.

Taken with the 35mm f/2:

Canon 5D Mark III |1/2 | F2.8| ISO 100 |35mm

Canon 5D Mark III |1/25| F5.6| ISO 800 |35mm

Taken with the 24-70mm f/4:

Canon 5D Mark III |1/320 | F8 | ISO 200 |24mm

Canon 5D Mark III |1/160 | F5.6 | ISO 400 |70mm

Canon 5D Mark III |1/60 | F4| ISO 100 |70mm

You can see the images in their natural habitat at the Canon UK website: 35mm & 24-70mm

So what do you think? Do these impress you? Let us know in the comments below.

Very sharp images. I would've liked to have seen the 35mm shot wide open but it looks very sharp.

I agree. I sort of expected them to want to show it off at its widest aperture.

Yeah it makes me suspect that it aint that good on f/2

I wish Nikon would update its 35mm f/2 lens.

Images taken with 35mm look very nice, but I still think it's a bit to pricey according to the previous version.

It would be interesting if in this picture there is lens profile correction applied or noth, I think it's key to know it.

Images taken in Morocco!!

They look impressive, but only samples for now. I did order a 24-70 f4L because I don't have this range covered yet and the f2.8L is rather expensive, plus I have a 40 f2.8 and 100 f2.8L already so I will do well with these for now. the contrast looks great and sharpness is as MTF charts suggest. Even Bokeh is looking lovely.
