Carl Zeiss Announced a New 50mm f/2.8 for E-Mount & X-Mount

Fan of the E-Mount or already an owner of the pretty sweet Fuji X-mount systems? Then you might like this: Zeiss just announced a 50mm f/2.8 macro lens for both mounts that sports the styling of the Zeiss lenses we've come to love over the years. It will be available at the end of March for $999.

From the Zeiss blog: "This new ZEISS macro lens offers a magnification power of 1:1, with which the photographed motif appears in its original size on the camera sensor. As a result, the lens makes it possible to visualize details which would otherwise not be seen with the naked eye. The new Touit 2.8/50M follows in very imposing footsteps: ZEISS macro lenses with a magnification power of 1:2 – such as the Makro-Planar T* 2/100 and the Makro-Planar T* 2/50 – have already garnered an excellent reputation in the market for SLR lenses."

Uhm wait... that's an E-Mount lens, not a FE-Mount. So this will have quite some limitations on the A7R you are mentioning.

Thanks for the catch!

on the A7r, an E-mount lens will be 15mp, other then that it'll work exactly the same as on APSC E-Mount.

sweet!

Where is the glass? 75mm FOV and f/4 light gathering ability is kinda weak.
