Charge Your GoPro Underwater with This Waterproof Selfie Stick

Charge Your GoPro Underwater with This Waterproof Selfie Stick

While it seems like there is a new selfie stick on the market every other day, PolarPro, an action camera accessories manufacturer, is set to begin production on a pretty cool extension pole. The PowerGrip H2O is a fully waterproof, battery-integrated extension pole that can not only mount your GoPro but charge it as well.

The PowerGrip’s 6,700 mAh lithium-ion battery is the equivalent of more than six fully charged GoPro batteries and can support up to 12 hours of shooting. The PowerGrip has two USB ports and can be used to charge other devices as well. With the purchase of the Waterproof Live Charge Kit, you also have the ability to charge your GoPro while you are shooting in or under the water. This is a pretty cool feature if you ask me.

While I don’t often use a full extension pole, the grip can be broken down into three lengths: 33 inches, 22 inches, and 11 inches, the shortest of which I think would be good to film surfing with. If you have ever used a GoPro, you know the battery goes quick but with the battery life gained from the PowerGrip H2O, you can cut down on the trips to shore. The PowerGrip has some other cool features including a 1/4-inch 20 tripod mount on the base of the grip and an attachable smartphone mount, which is actually pretty interesting considering the image quality smartphones can achieve. Paired with the two USB ports, you could shoot extended time-lapse with either a GoPro or smartphone. With only a couple of days left in their Kickstarter campaign, PolarPro has already exceeded their goal. If you are interested in learning more about the PowerGrip H2O or preordering one, check out their Kickstarter and their website.

While there are lots of third-party accessories constantly being made for GoPros and smartphones, if you are looking to shoot for extended periods underwater or looking to improve battery life on your GoPro or smartphone, this product actually seems like it could help you out.
