Nikon 16-35mm f/4G AF-S VR

Nikon 16-35mm f/4G AF-S VR

Who It’s For:

This is a professional grade, wide angle lens for professionals and advanced amateurs. This is not a lens for "Getting It All In" it's a lens this is a "Shove The Viewers Nose In It" lens and at 16mm it does a great job of that. If you're looking for a wide angle lens and don't want to shell out for another stop of light, this is definitely the lens for you.

What We Like:

Increased Focal Length: Nikon has expanded the focal length of this lens from 17-35mm to 16-35mm which makes more of a difference than you might think.

Metal Housing: This is a professional lens and it’s built to take some serious abuse

Price: at just under $1300 this lens is much cheaper and offers a wider focal length than its rival 17-35mm f/2.8.

New VR: The VR in this camera is supurb, Nikon says it allows you to shoot three stops slower handheld and I believe it. It’s amazing at all focal lengths.

What We Don't:

Lack Of Professional Aperture: With a minimum aperture of f/4 it lacks the professional aperture of the 17-35mm f/2.8.

Weight: It’s a big lens, and on a professional body it’s going to be fairly heavy.

I love this lens! It is great piece of glass and has great corner sharpness. I use it mostly for landscapes where I'm shooting F/8-F/16 so the fact that the lens is not a F/2.8 doesn't bother me. I also like the fact that I am able to use filters like a CP with this piece of glass with out having to buy special adapters. The VR is amazing. I used it while flying in a back of a helicopter and I could notice a huge difference between the VR being on and off. I would recommend this lens.
