Nikon DF Camera Images Have Been Leaked

Nikon DF Camera Images Have Been Leaked

The rumored Nikon DF camera with its retro outside and full frame 35mm guts is finally starting to leak. Nikon Rumors posted a few images just minutes ago and then their website went down (possibly due to traffic?). We will be updating this post with camera info as it is received but at this point we only have pictures. The full release of this camera is due tonight or tomorrow. I'm still not completely sold on this camera but I've spoken to someone who has used it and he assured it me it wasn't just "trendy." I'm excited to bring it to our workshop next year because I feel like it may be the ultimate travel camera.

I'll be the sole skeptic on this and say that I just don't like the look of it.

It's not what I had hoped it would look like...but still not bad.

You're not alone........so Nikon goes back to copy from old designs and that's supposed to be exciting - not for me. Unless the image quality is leaps and bounds better then I would pass.

Daddy likey. Awesome prime camera. 24, 50, 85. :D

I really dig the looks. But for me it will come down to the price point relative to the rest of the lineup and how it performs.

Made in Japan

When is the Canon AE-1 ProgramD coming out?

no no the F1 "new style" :-P

I'm a Canon guy and I'd buy this for the nostalgia it gives me. Reminds me of when I started photography.

Any specs?

It uses the D4 sensor, the rest of the guts seem to come off the D600/610 production line.

I was really excited about this camera and I'm a Canon user. But now I've seen it, is it just me or is this FUGLY?

It's just you

Fair enough!
Hopefully didn't come off as trolling, I'm glad other people like it.

Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder as they say! I definitely would need my beer goggles for this one :-0

I didn't get the troll vibe from you but yes, different strokes for different folks

I won't call it fugly but damn I hate that black faux leather on the viewfinder, why can't they just leave it all metal.

I think the silver one is awful....black isn't bad.

I actually agree that it's ugly (especially in silver)... And it's funny because I think the silver FM2 is the most beautiful camera ever.. and the two obviously look somewhat alike.

I just don't think the design is very 'clean' or harmonic. And I especially dislike the look of the grip.

Also, I'm astonished that they thought it would be a good idea to make the back of the camera very modern looking, while the front and top obviously are "retro".

It’s mostly you.

Dont have to know the specs. I want this one. Looking at the picture for 15 min Now And i am stil smiling

With all this Baby Boomer appeal/nostalgia I suspect that Nikon knows full well they can pin an inflated price on this baby.

too bad the new nikon lenses don't have the aperture rings on them anymore. Old lenses will look great on this body.

I agree. I miss the pin coupling and the bat-ears

This camera has a coupling lever so buy up the all the AI prong lenses you want before the price skyrockets.

Ohhh, good point.

sure ? I have a lot of AiS but also some pre-AiS

Positive

Than this is the camera where I was waiting for. But I will NOT sell my F2's and other analogues nor my D123.

Here's a clip from the "release" which was pulled down in minutes.

"For over 80 years, NIKKOR lenses have been regarded as some of the finest optics available. In fact, photographers are still using NIKKOR lenses 30 or more years old! The Nikon Df wouldn't be a true classic camera if it couldn't work with those lenses, so we developed a mount system that works with all current AFS, AFD and AF NIKKOR lenses. Additionally, a metering coupling lever makes it possible to use both AI (Aperture Index) or nonAI lenses."

This is exactly what I am thinking about the F-system.
Unique and genius.
Sorry for the Canon-guys but you were/are not able to join such a feeling.

Yeah, Canon may have had their version of AF-S first, but with it they left behind all of their legacy glass.

This guy will convert your old Nikkors to Ai status:

I have him work on my old 20mm f/4, he does good, quality work, and is completely affordable.

So bad ass!

Another Canon user...very intrigued...wow!!

i'm crying tears of joy...my wallet is going on a diet again.

WOHOU!! CHRISTMAS CHRISTMAS

Holy smokes. Absolutely beautiful. Want!

Start digging for your old cable releases...

I thought that was a rather nice touch :)

Please let the sensor be awesome. Subject to that... I'm sold.

Just gonna wait for the canon answaer to this...

Don't get me wrong, I'm not a nay-sayer or troll of any kind, but in few years manufacturers will be selling us pinhole cameras with digital back, just so they look retro enough :) Still this design looks cool :D

err.

The cameras are awesome, the ads for it are not.

It seems like they where inspired by two different decades when they designed the front and the back. The front is beautiful, the back...not so much.

What I do like is that it seems to be a camera that invites to be artistic. This doesn't look like it would fit the "sharp as hell, boring as f*** "-type of photographer.

"The front is beautiful, the back...not so much."
First impressions are all that count...

well, that's all we have isn't it?

can't compete with my Walgreens instant film camera and its awesome 24 exposures and built in flash :-) LOL

can't wait to see what others come up with

I shoot Canon, but if this camera is as practical and powerful as I think it might be, I might switch brands. I've always been interested in Nikon glass, but the camera bodies have never really sold me as superior... until now. Looks good!
