Take a picture of a street at eye level, then take the same picture from a ladder about 5 feet off the ground; two entirely different images IMO. I often stand on the roof of my car in order to get a different perspective in a pinch. When photographing a tree, for example, and you want the image to be a typology, you need to be exactly half way up the height of the tree, dead straight.
