Long Exposures Of Couples Sleeping Tell An Interesting Story
If these were airplanes, it would be an air traffic control nightmare! Photographer Paul Schneggenburger wanted to find out how people behave once they are asleep. The end result was that he found it much like a dance in slow motion. If you’ve seen long exposure shots of dances, they reflect a similar feel. It gave a unique insight to how couples also interact in bed while they’re asleep.
“Is it a nocturnal lovers’ dance – which is not necessarily sensual, but rather a kind of unconscious act of tenderness – or are they turning their backs on each other?”
His process started by asking to photograph his friends as they slept. Then, he progressed to complete strangers. He was always impressed with every single outcome, as they were completely unique.
It’s intruiging to compare the differences between people and collectively as couples. I wonder if these movements give an insight about their personalities as well.
