Meticulous Time Lapse of Central Park Fall Colors

Filmmaker Jamie Scott spent a six month span of time filming his time lapse titled “Fall” in New York City’s Central Park. The amount of planning and execution that went into this time lapse is pretty impressive, and I’m definitely digging the results. As a New Yorker myself, I really appreciated the subject he used to show off the changing fall colors.

Scott says “One of the most striking things about New York City is the fall colors and there’s no better place to view this then Central Park. I chose 15 locations in the park and revisited them 2 days a week for six months, recording all camera positions and lens information to create consistency in the images. All shots were taken just after sunrise.”

So, do you think Scott’s efforts paid off? Or is this just another time lapse that gets lost in all the mediocre ones?

Definitely paid off, you can really tell when this amount of time and planning were put into time lapse, very well done

I agree it definitely paid off!

The funny thing is that I find most of this stuff before it gets on Fstoppers, wondering now if I need that extra website to visit.

Yes, and real photography 8×10. Not those small 35mm or digital…
Get over it men. Camera is just a tool. It is all about what you can make with it. And even Ansel Adams would love to have Photoshop, because he was editing a lot in darkroom(multi-exposure, dodging, burning etc.)

Very cool piece. Let the snoody old photographers die out…. They are just plain bitter.

wow. that is a lot of precision over time. Very memorable.

I think the objections here are because they are alluding this foliage change was the result of time-lapse photography. While there is obviously time-lapse photography, it was the not the reason for the change in hues and colors. It is obviously done in post production. While I like the piece, it is a deceptive statement.

Let’s go back to the old ways of sharing photographs. Let me know when you are don in the dark room and have your exhibition prints hanging somewhere…  I am also assuming you are a purist and never edit your work?

Nice to finally see a timelapse with a concept, rather than just a string of pretty footage. Very creative, regardless of how it was done.
