What planet are you on? The entities that have a financial interest in this will, rightly, protect their IP at all costs, because they're legally required to do so. You think a lawyer is sitting in EMI saying "Hold on, hold on, we might get some free publicity out of this"?Even if they did, that is not their job. Their job is to enforce copyright. Chris Martin might not give a crap about some dude using his shit music in a wedding video, but the labels, the publishers, and anyone else with a vested interest in the IP definitely will, because they rely on license fees to generate income. The guy who made this video is exactly what is wrong with the creative industry. Why is it OK for him to pick and choose his video soundtrack with such impunity? Let's see how he feels if Chris Martin decides to use his wedding video (which is his IP, not the couple's) as the music video for this song. I bet every penny I earn this year that he'd be seeking representation within a split second of finding out. And that is where the problem lies. People think that because the next man is doing better than them, then it's seemingly OK to ride piggyback and profit from that person's hard work. It's not. I work my ass off in photoshoots, and nothing irks me more than someone trying to get me to work for free. Oh wait, something does irk me more - trying to get me to work for free under the shoddy pretence that the publicity will somehow benefit me.

Loving the comments from people justifying this as “free publicity”.
