Official BTS video dedicated to the Ferrari 458 Speciale
DigitalAir, a visual effects production house, just released an awesome video of the Ferrari 458 Speciale and to top it all off…they have behind the scenes footage as well. What’s cool about this is their virtual camera movement process which they apparently invented and patented. Regardless of how you feel about the whole “bullet-time” thing there is no denying that the rest of the camera work is pretty cool.
In the BTS video below they give you a quick look at what seems to be most of the shots that comprise the final video, including the drone work. I don’t know why I didn’t expect it but the drone they used is enormous! Good thing nobody crashed that one into somebody’s face. Also, for the lighting folks out there, you can get a glimpse of the light setup for the studio shots around 0:50, but it’s really quick.
I think overall my favorite shots were the ones low on the car focused on the logo. Personally, it would have been nice if there were a bit more dynamic audio and not just 3 minutes of engine revving but hey, I get it. The transition from track to city driving worked great too given that the car “was designed to provide non-professional drivers with a much more intense and extreme experience behind the wheel.”
