Besides being an excellent photographer, Blair Bunting (who you may remember from our Lamborghini Aventador video) is an avid aeronautics hobbyist. He recently had the opportunity to photograph a U.S. military F-16, which was an honor in itself. But when he was offered the chance to fly in the jet, the experience was once in a lifetime. Check out the GoPro madness! [more]
One thing I love about the Gopro Hero 2 cameras is that normal, everyday people can record amazing footage that has never been seen before. Such is the case with Mark Peters who thought he was just going to film some albacore tuna during his fishing trip. Little did Mark know what his GoPro would capture inside his homemade underwater torpedo. [more]
Join the MacGillivrays of One World One Ocean as they take you under the sea and into ‘inner space’ to document NASA’s NEEMO 16 mission (NASA Extreme Environment Mission Operations). Aquanauts are sent to Aquarius (the world’s only undersea laboratory) to live underwater for two weeks which can simulate living on a space station. [more]
Ken Block, owner of DC Shoes and action sports mogul is well known for his incredible skill in a rally car. He’s also been known to make some incredible videos, such as his original Gymkhana piece. For this installment, Gymkhana 5, Ken decided that he wanted to take over San Francisco: and that is just what he did. He also made sure that it was captured to perfection: I can’t imagine that any less than one hundred cameras were used in the making of this piece. [more]
After Sony’s teaser, JVC’s new action cam, the GC-XA1 Adixxion, seems to want the action camera market all to themselves. Full HD, a 1.5″ screen, and 5x zoom will come standard on most of these kinds of devices. But what sets this apart? How about the shock-, water-, dust-, and freeze-proof housing that it’s in? Or the standard Wifi included? [more]
We’re still missing some key information, so it’s hard to say. But Sony’s gunning for GoPro with their newest little action camera. [more]
GoPro has become one of those companies like Redbull where everything they put out there is pretty cool. It has been fun seeing such a small startup become the industry leaders in tiny HD video cameras. With their new Wifi BacPac, GoPro gives users the ability to control their cameras through tablets like the iPad and smart phones. Unlike previous versions of the Hero, you can now control the shutter, camera modes, and other options with a simple remote. It’s pretty amazing to see what this camera has become in just a few years. Rock on GoPro!
Halvor Angvik and Jeff Nebelkopf created this video with the help of Red Bull and JokkeSommer. The fact that Red Bull sponsored it should tell you all that you need to know: It’s absolutely incredible. I’ve seen some crazy wingsuit stunts before, but [more]

A relatively new ‘sky sport’ out there makes use of a wing suit. Want one yourself? You’ll first have to log at least 200 sky-diving jumps just to buy one. Here, via Gizmodo, Jeb Corliss jumps on a beautiful day, but cuts it just a little too close… Luckily, for those that have the stomach for it, we have a first-person view thanks to a helmet-mounted GoPro.
“Public Domaine” was the name of a skateboarding themed art exhibition that took place at The Gaîté Art Museum in Paris last summer. To celebrate their 25th Anniversary, shoemaker Etnies commissioned award-winning skateboard filmmaker Mike Manzoori to create a unique piece of video art for the exhibit. And unique is exactly what he provided with a bizarrely super wide angle aspect ratio film that was projected on the walls of the exhibit. He also used some very interesting tools to achieve this look, including the RED One, Custom rigs for holding 3x DSLRs, and a spinning 360 GoPro Rig. To see the full post click here.
We’re so excited to announce the finalists for our 2011 Behind The Scenes Contest. Thank you to EVERYONE who participated. The videos this year really blew us away! We were forced to choose our top 12 videos to make it to the finals instead of the the top 10 we had planned. From this stage, they will be sent off to our celebrity judges for the final round who will choose a 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winner! Good luck!
I recently did a post on Google’s Street View of B&H when Fstoppers reader Paul Bamford asked what the hanging track system was all about. Many of you already know that B&H has an elaborate conveyer belt system, that moves all of their goods through out the store. But now, thanks to a stole away GoPro and the good humored folks at B&H, you can see it in action.
Kickstarter is chock-full of incredible new products and ideas, and here is one of my favorites. Kyle Hart of Puyallup, WA has come up with the EZ-Steady, a very affordable stabilization system, that glides an iPhone, GoPro or DSLR through the air with ease. Check out the EZ-Steady video and then head on over to Kyle’s Kickstarter to get your hands on one of these puppies. Enjoy!
The BBC has produced some of my favorite shows of all time. Their newest program called Earthflight captures amazing HD video from the skies as they put you literally on the wings of wild birds. I really can’t imagine how they got these shots of eagles stalking unsuspecting flamingos but it’s definitely not filmed on a Gopro Hero. Click the full post to check out the amazing view in full HD glory!
