What a beautiful hero. A lovely boy, well photographed, although just out of focus, as I am sure you know.

Your use of space, depth of field and light is good, very good in my opinion. He looks gorgeous.

I have just noticed the ISO is 1600. Was it very rather darker than it apperas? Given the shutter speed and aperture perhaps it was. I might have been inclined to shoot at 1/125 and ISO 800 tobalance a reasonable motion freezing shutterspeed and a cleaner image that ISO 1600 provides. Always a compromise in poor light, which the data suggests you had so You were not wrong but with more experience and confidence in holding steady that is what I would have tried. Of course I might have decided to shoot as you have if I was less than delighted with the sharpness of the pictures.

The image was taken a little after sunset, so although not incredibly dark, the light of day was definitely disapating quickly. But very good observation, the high ISO, is set due to my lack of getting sharp images on slower shutter speeds. Since switching to this camera (d800 from my d700) I found at lower shutter speeds I get motion blur! Not sure if I just have unsteady hands but have also since started using a monopod. I'll have to try out the settings you mentioned on my next sunset shoot to see if it produces a cleaner image. Thanks so much for the critique! I really appreciate the feedback.
