A semi-self portrait with friend and model Katie Johnson. A childhood friend of mine died in the line of duty as a firefighter and this was my way of working through some of my grief as well as honoring his memory.
19 firefighters died that day so Katie is holding 19 large flowers. Some of them have smaller flowers branching off the main stem, which I like to think represents the firemen's families. We lit several large yellow smoke bombs and ran through it; that was all real and not created in post.
