[Pics] A Mother’s Portrait Photography of Her Flying Baby

bab [Pics] A Mothers Portrait Photography of Her Flying Baby Providence, Rhode Island based photographer and mom, Rachel Hulin, got bored and it was her son Henry who flew to her rescue.

See her less than ordinary, baby portraits, below.

“I felt like the pictures could show the world that babies inhabit that is all their own. Some people like the cute ones, some people like the spooky ones. I do feel compelled to keep making them. It’s funny, I already feel nostalgic seeing how little he was in his first flights.” -Rachel Hulin- (paraphrased)

              How does she do it?

“I wanted the flights to feel genuine. These are places we are really in everyday, it’s not a cut-and-paste job on random interiors and landscapes. I never throw him, and I never move him into a place in the frame that he wasn’t in to begin with,I like Henry to fly the way he feels like it, I never pose him in a specific way. Sometimes he’s graceful and sometimes he’s a little hunchback. I think telling you more would ruin it.” -Rachel Hulin-

She’s just holding him in each shot, then going back in and taking another shot with no-one in it then compositing.

What William said, also, note lack of baby shadow in any of the photos! Cute idea though :)

this is the reverse of what scott kelby describes in his photoshop cs5 book (on how to remove reflections in glasses) — take two pictures and composite :)

I never liked babies to begin with. Flying or not.
