[Pics] Abandoning (and then shooting) Little People on the Streets

tp [Pics] Abandoning (and then shooting) Little People on the Streets I know I know, this post is a bit of a throw back but not everyone surfs the web as much as you do and I don’t want anyone to miss anything good. Besides, even though London-based artist/photographer Slinkachu’s ‘Little People Project’ started way back in 2006, it’s the project that keeps on growing, even if the models don’t. So check out more than 50 pics in the post below.

“My ‘Little People Project’ started in 2006. It involves the remodelling and painting of miniature model train set characters, which I then place and leave on the street. It is both a street art installation project and a photography project. The street-based side of my work plays with the notion of surprise and I aim to encourage city-dwellers to be more aware of their surroundings. The scenes I set up, more evident through the photography, and the titles I give these scenes aim to reflect the loneliness and melancholy of living in a big city, almost being lost and overwhelmed. But underneath this, there is always some humour. I want people to be able to empathise with the tiny people in my works.”–Slinkachu-

Neat post but the title is VERY misleading.  I thought it had something to do with dwarf genocide… seriously.  I was appalled until I opened the article.

;)  I totally suspected that would get a few people.  I thought about reminding people in the post that this is a photography site or that the projects catch line is, “Abandoning Little People On The Streets Since 2006″ but some how this seemed more fun.

Wonderful Macro photography. Interesting perspective on how you situate every person in your scene.
