Girl in the Green Scarf
“This was shot in downtown Charlotte, NC out front of the Bank of America building.
The girl in this picture is 9. She’s the daughter of a close friend of mine who used to model but stopped to start a family. This is our second shoot together, the first having been in the studio. We were playing around with accessories as I love to do when she put on this scarf. When I saw it looking like the picture, I yelled, ‘don’t move.’ Grabbed my camera and shot twice. This is the best of the two. The Nikon 70-300mm lens is my go-to as it consistently brings me images like this.
Done in P.S. CS3. Mostly, I utilized blending modes to achieve the desired affects. No plug-ins were used.
The shallow depth of field and lovely background courtesy of that particular lens. This was shot at f/4.5 with no blurring of the background used.
Her mother is also does hair and is an experienced MUA as well as being a former pro model. I still shoot with this girl on a consistent basis as she has proven to be a natural in front of the camera.“- Tim Eavey
