Today’s POTD contest entry of the top 30 portraits comes from Robert Godwin. I love the timeless, natural feel to the image – it could have been taken in 1950 or 2013. When asked about the image, Robert said:
“This image was captured without any artificial light; a gap in the canopy of the woodland provided a narrow beam of light down to the floor. I positioned Laura, my subject, to face the light source whilst keeping the direct eye contact. The decision to do her make-up with dirt was relatively spontaneous but gave the image a very primal feel.”
Nice work, Robert!
