Point Vicente Lighthouse

This is a shot of the Point Vicente lighthouse in Palos Verdes, California. I had a vision of the final photo I was looking for before I left the house, which is what I've been trying to do more of, lately. I knew it was going to be a nice sunset on the way to the lighthouse and I also knew that the light beam wouldn't be visible.

Also, I always shoot with my 17-40mm but recently picked up a Tamron 70-200mm and thought that a tighter composition would be a different perspective from my usual landscapes.

I'd seen a lot of photos of this spot but none of them really had that 'wow' factor that I believe this spot deserves so I decided I would add the beam in post-production, which is something I never thought I would do on any of my landscape photos. I'd have to say, I'm really happy with how it turned out and think it shows what this spot could look like it its best form.

Thanks, I appreciate the input. I updated the description.

Congratulations. I had the same vision a while back but I could not execute as well as you did. Here is my creation of the same scene. https://fstoppers.com/photo/31211

Looks good, Bared! Thanks for the kind words!

I love how the light beam is somehow "unrealistic" yet doesn't seem faek or cheap.. it's almost like it has an illustrative quality to it.. very cool

Thanks, Frank! I appreciate it! I worked long and hard on this shot so it wouldn't look 'cheap' but, as artists, we're never fully satisfied with our work, are we?

Awseome shot. Lighthouses are one of most favorites.

Beautiful. Great photo.
