Bestbuy Leaks The Canon PowerShot G1 X II

It is true! Bestbuy posted the details to the currently unreleased Canon PowerShot G1 X Mark II and we are here to keep the information public. The camera is currently for pre-order on their site for only $799, however Canon has not made any announcements for this camera. That’s not too bad of a price considering some of the information we have.

Canon did a great job with their original PowerShot G1 and it is nice to see a new one coming out.  The PowerShot G1 Mark II has a nice variety of features that seem to be quite the improvement from the G1 Mark I.  This is definitely a camera that can be carried around for almost any situation and I can already see myself using it for some daily photos.  Let us know your thoughts on it after reading through the specs!

Here are some of the features the new camera has:

  • 12.8 megapixel, 1.5” CMOS sensor
  • 5x optical/4x digital/20x total zoom
  • 3” capacitive touch-panel LCD
  • High-definition movie mode
  • DIGIC 6 image processor
  • Optical image stabilizer
  • Scene modes
  • Burst Mode
  • White balance modes
  • Built-in flash
  • High-speed autofocus
  • Built-in Wi-Fi
  • Built-in NFC (near-field communication)
  • Multicard slot

Overall, it is good to see the camera having the wi-fi built in and also the multicard slot. But, one of the main features that seems to be great is hearing about “high-speed autofocus”. There is never a time that I complain about my camera focusing too fast.

The only negative mark I have strictly based on the specs provided and not from personal use, is that I wish there were some more megapixels. I am definitely a fan of having more space to work with but at the same time this is not something that would stop me from making the purchase of this camera.

Take a look at some of the images released of the camera. The LCD display is looking pretty nice. I like the design of the body and do not have much to criticize about it.

I'm glad to see they aren't entering the G series into the MP marketing craze. 12mp is a good size for this body, especially if you're not printing over A2. And the rest of the specs back that up.

Are you seeing this Sony? THAT is how you make a proper tilt screen. Your a7 would have been much better had it used this design.

You've seen the NEX-3n it does this and it's the same class of camera and the G1xII

bigger sensor then the m43 stuff.. i like that.
that shooting speed with 3fps sucks compared to other brands.
but not important for me.
for a P&S i don´t need to change lenses.... 24-120mm is great.

Isn't 1.5" same size as in Sony RX100 sensor? No OVF or EVF? The LCD seems to tilt for horizontal shooting of selfies. If I'm right, this is not a G1X camera. This is a RX camera for Canon fanboys. Totally disappointed

RX100 is 1" sensor

Yes, my bad. Still a total disappointment for me. I was ready for an evolution of the G1X but this camera is another sort of camera probably suited for others but certainly not for me.
