"Shining" A Series Of Glowing Street Silhouettes

"Shining" A Series Of Glowing Street Silhouettes

Eduard Zhikharev, lead motion designer at Transparent House in San Francisco, created a interesting conceptual series Shining, a body of work that depicts glowing figures from street scenes that his wife Olga Tsybulina had photographed one day. I reached out to Eduard after running across the work on Behance and asked him about the series.

"The process of Shining was done in Photoshop, all in the color correction layers. I was sitting behind my wife when she was working in Lightroom and I selected several images which were a good fit for this idea; we didn't plan to create Shining when she shot the photos. The project was completed at home over one weekend."

When asked about collaborating with his wife, Eduard said, "She is very helpful, when I saw her photos I voiced the idea and it was her who convinced me to sit down and bring it to the final stage. For each image she gives me her advice."

"The main concept is that in our society, there are people who with their unique energy are full of light all around. Life is joy, happiness, hard work and honesty. It's what fascinates other people around them. This is what I wanted to convey, if it could be visualized. It's the way I would like to see it like it."

When asked about any inspiration that went into creating Shining, Eduard stated, "Every day I see hundreds of beautiful works; all of them become deposited in my head. In our world, it is very hard to create unique work. Working with people is probably the most interesting theme to me, but I very rarely get to work in that direction."

Love these, brilliant!

Pun intended?

Yeah, of course.

*lies*

Really like the series, very unique idea!

nice! Do a vehicle next... and then call it TRON?

Great concept. Does anybody know how to make this glowing effect in Photoshop?

that would be great

Trace, fill with white and add glow, then add an adjustment layer set to lighten mask the area around the glowing person on the ground and blur the edges. Finally add light streaks and warp to shape and blur and add glow and either lower opacity or change the blending mode to taste.

A tutorial on how to do this would be like...an early Christmas
