The Inspiring 8 Second Exposure Project

To have an eye for fine art requires a special kind of talent. Nicolas Ruel does a fantastic job of creating unique photographs that capture the essence of a city in his “8 Seconds” project. For all of his images within the project, he sets the camera to an 8 second exposure and changes perspective mid shot. This lets him capture a layering effect in a single shot.

His work has taken him to dozens of major cities around the globe. To see more, check out his website.

Interesting. I wonder if this could be a way for cameras that don’t have multiple exposure features, to still make some cool effects in-camera. Perhaps with a ling exposure by stacking nd filters and creating a long exposure multi exposure? I don’t know but I’ma try it!

These images are great.  I recently tried some of this doing some night photography.  With the multiple exposure feature on my camera, I did recently put out a series called Torontox3 using triple exposures.  Here’s a link to the series http://jmphotographyonline.ca/torontox3/

Interesting effect Jay. As for the photos in the post, there’s some really beautiful images there and especially if you click through to the guy’s site.

These are a little weird. I’ve taken many photos with an 8 second exposure but you can still see what’s inside the photos. These one are quite blur.
