Most of stuff on TV is still SD upscaled or 720p. But more and more is being shoot to broadcast as true HD (1080p). I think we need to wait for 8k or 16k a bit longer. My bet would be that in few years everything on home TV will be 1080p/2k and then 4/8k or retina TV will be in production? not sure if 3D will get ever adapted on large scale.

Hmmm … Most of stuff on TV is still SD upscaled or 720p. You are right. Portable and powerful to quickly see photos/videos on location. I have 17inch MacBook Pro and its heavy to drag along. I would love to switch it for smaller one sometime soon.Shame it doesn't have FireWire built in. Using some adaptors will be on the way with this one.But 2 big screens are proper professional editing station. Not a laptop.

Yep. You are right. What?...Oh, Blu-Ray still isn't supported by Apple and this laptop doesn't even have an optical drive. I really like the convenience of having an optical drive, even if it isn't used all the time. I prefer a thicker laptop with an optical drive over an ultra thin laptop with clunky external USB "superdrive". I'd also like a Firewire 800 port, unless there is a really fast and reliable Thunderbolt-Firewire adapter. If Apple got rid of the display and the keyboard this would be even lighter!! Sorry...they already did that with the Mac min.Love the display, sorry for the loss of convenient features. Apple was never one to hold onto fading technologies. I guess I'll have to replace all those Firewire drives.

I bet Blu-Ray movies will look great on the new display. I still prefer the convenience of an optical drive for the times when it is just nice to have it. The new display sounds great, but the lack of an optical drive and Firewire 800 limit the practicality for me. It sounds like an exotic race car designed for the track without any cup holders. I drive to work and drink coffee, and I'd like to do that in a sporty car, not an all-out race car. I prefer a balance of convenience and cutting-edge technology.

Sounds great except…no optical drive??? I’d prefer a thicker laptop with an optical drive over an ultra thin laptop with a clunky external USB “superdrive”.
