Steven Soderbergh has shoot all of his films from 2008 to the present with RED cameras. &quot;Contagion&quot; is being shot right now with a 5K Epic (starring Marion Cotillard, Matt Damon, Kate Winslet, Jude Law, Laurence Fishburne and Gwyneth Paltrow).Peter Jackson&#039;s two film adaptation of The Hobbit will be shot in 3D using RED DIGITAL CINEMA&#039;S soon to be released EPIC Digital Cameras ... The Hobbit will be amongst the first productions in the world to use the EPIC and at least thirty cameras will be required by the 3-D production. There are several Motion Picture Camera Rental Houses that rent RED cameras here in SoCal. Some Big Budget feature films have been shot with RED. &quot;Social Network&quot; fore-instance. Both companies, especially Canon will keep improving their products that appeal to a variety of customers.  RED will always be a niche product Leica. Im not bashing RED they make incredible products, but they arent going to survive trying to compete with Canon and Nikon. Nikon is huge and Canon is at least four times bigger. If RED tries to compete with them on a more prosumer level they will get their clocks cleaned.
