Much of the Pirelli calendar was shot with a 7.6" Profoto Zoom reflector. You can get the same look using an Alien Bee with the 7" or 8.5" reflector. I use a US$74.95 PCB 86" PLM with a Profoto strobe, for some of my advertising work. Tomorrow I'm using a Profoto AcuteB 600 with NO MODIFIERS, just the bare flash tube. This is an author portrait for a book (BTW I could do this with an Alien Bee without reflector). The reason I use Profoto is the mount. My favorite modifier is the Profoto Hardbox which can't be modified to fit on anything else. I've used a DynaLite with a Mola Euro beauty dish and the light is as good as if I'd been using Bron. I'd expect a Mola with an AB would look just fine. There is no such thing as a Magic Bullet, no tool that will make you a better photographer. When it comes to learning, you will learn more from watching an accomplished shooter than a n00b. Remember, ONLY STEAL FROM THE BEST!

STOP BEING INTIMIDATED BY EQUIPMENT!!!
Much of the Pirelli calendar was shot with a 7.6″ Profoto Zoom reflector. I was in a funk the past couple of weeks. Just a total lack of motivation to shoot due to feeling sorry for myself, therefore sapping my creativity and desire to pick my camera up, even for personal work. That is, until I checked out my favorite Wednesday Rundown. You see these videos of people just doing the work no matter what, and it lifts my spirits up.Thank you fstoppers. I give my word to pay it forward with a submitted video soon.

God bless, fstoppers! I was in a funk the past couple of weeks.
